The Shriver Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands-on training in the following areas: Certified Nurse Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant, Medical Administration Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Plumbing, Painting, Security and Protective Services, HVAC, Landscaping, Electrical, and Building Construction Technology.

As a Residential Advisor, you will be a pivotal part of our students' daily lives, providing guidance, mentorship, and support within the residential community. Your role is crucial in fostering a sense of belonging and ensuring a positive living experience that complements their educational journey at Shriver Job Corps.

Responsibilities:

  • Mentorship and Guidance: Build positive and supportive relationships with students, offering mentorship and guidance to assist them in their personal and academic growth.
  • Community Building: Cultivate a sense of community within the residential setting, organizing and participating in activities that promote unity, teamwork, and a positive living environment.
  • Conflict Resolution: Address and resolve conflicts among students with empathy and diplomacy, promoting a harmonious and respectful living space.
  • Safety Oversight: Collaborate with the safety and security team to ensure the well-being of students, providing support during emergency situations and promoting a secure living environment.
  • Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with students, fellow staff members, and other relevant stakeholders, ensuring transparency and effective coordination.
  • Rules and Regulations: Enforce and uphold residential policies and procedures, educating students on expectations and fostering a sense of responsibility.
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide emotional support and crisis intervention when necessary, connecting students with appropriate resources and ensuring their overall well-being.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates of Arts Degree or 1-year related experience working with youth. Must possess a valid in-State Driver's License and meet Company insurability requirements. CDL preferred.

Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching. Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and / or the ability to assess the lift load in order to ask for necessary assistance.
