Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

-This position requires a high level of OBGYN clinical skills and administrative skills with the ability to trouble shoot / problem solve clinic workflow issues as they arise.
-Ability / skill in patient triage is highly preferred.
-Customer service skills are paramount to this position as well as the ability to teach / train and coach employees and patients.
-Labor and delivery experience is highly preferred as well as experience with Excel and Word.
-Experience with EPIC EMR is preferred but not required.

Job Role Summary

The Charge Nurse assists the Team Leader/Director as needed, with overall operation of the office.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health's mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County. Models Eskenazi Health values.
  • Handles confidential information involving EHS patients.
  • Serves as a resource for staff by answering questions, identifying/resolving problems with the workload and assigning tasks to staff under the guidance of the Clinic Manager.
  • Assists the Team Leader/Director as needed, with overall operation of the office.
  • Participates in process of preliminary interviews but does not perform independent hiring of new staff.
  • Assists with preparing staffing schedules after PTO approvals from Clinic Manager.
  • Disseminates clinical updates to clinical staff.
  • Provides Clinic Manager with input in the review process but does not participate.
  • Adheres to company policies, procedures, and standards while demonstrating a professional and positive image to the public.
  • Adheres to State and Federal safety guidelines.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Fosters supportive environment for all staff.
  • Maintains protected health information in accordance with HIPAA privacy guidelines.
  • Maintains Joint Commission readiness.
  • Oversees Environment of Care such as temp logs, AED checks, and eyewash logs.
  • Assists in Safety Rounds.
  • Performs staff proficiency check offs.
  • Assists in back office patient flow.
  • Coordinates training schedules for CPR, TB and Skills Assessment Fair.

Job Requirements

  • Registered Nurse or LPN required
  • At least one year of experience in a health care environment
