The primary function of a Rotary Press Operator is to perform machine operations on components to specified dimensions according to required quality standards. The operator has full responsibility for accurately running and operating the machine where several materials are laminated together and converted into disposable or durable products or components. Tolerances and functionality are critical and vital to this operation, and the materials are sensitive to speed, proper alignment, tension, and registration. These materials might include films, pressure sensitive adhesives/transfers, fabric, foam, mylar, ink, release paper etc.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Operate up to the required number of production machines within the assigned area; to produce parts to dimensional tolerances and finish specifications
  • Refer to drawings, job traveler, and job videos for specified instructions, dimensions, tolerances, quality features, and number of parts to be run.
  • Start up production machinery after clocking into the job and first article is approved by supervisor
  • Set up proper roll placement and registration of each component material
  • Mount rollers, unwind arms and guides as needed
  • Set proper pressure on nips rollers, dies, and printing rollers
  • Complete roll changes, splices, speed, and tension adjustment, and die placement and adjustments
  • Inspect parts from beginning, middle and end of each roll change over
  • Change and sharpen blades as needed to produce clean cuts
  • Keep track of parts produced in the unit its sold to our customer and report units in ERP system.
  • Notify Maintenance Supervisor when worn parts need replacing.
  • Adhere to procedures and protocols
  • Use care to recognize defective parts, machine malfunctions, and dimensional deviations.
  • Habitually follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and make recommendations to management when it needs improvement.
  • Assist with training of operators and set-up personnel, as required
  • Maintain all necessary documentation in a clear and accurate manner, including paperwork and job reporting transactions.
  • Maintain necessary records; work is subject to audited inspections.
  • Handle parts according to established procedures.
  • Follow all prescribed safety rules and regulations.
  • Keeps work area clean and orderly (maintain 7S)
  • Ability to lift 25 to 50lbs and can push, pull, bend, stand or kneel for extended periods of time
  • Performs related duties as assigned by Supervisor
