Basic Job Functions:
The Safety/Environmental Coordinator will work to promote and enhance the safety and environmental processes. This person will be responsible for developing, organizing,leading, and maintaining the records of safety and environmental training. Other responsibilities include: co-authoring safety/operating and environmental procedures; auditingplant conditions and teammate actions; compiling, analyzing and reporting safety and environmental metrics; ensuring the division is in compliance with federal guidelines;participating in corporate initiatives. In addition, this person will work with outside auditors and government inspectors as necessary.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. 4-year college degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related discipline OR 2 years of safety related experience in an industrial environment
2. Ability to be on call 24/7 and travel as required
3. Supervisor and manager recommendation
4. Teammate must be in "Good Standing"
Preferences:
1. Experience as a safety or environmental coordinator
2. Safety/Emergency services certification
3. OSHA and VPP experience
Must have supervisor and/or manager recommendation and must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
