Job Summary:

The overall objective of the Safety Engineer is to promote a strong safety culture by providing safety and health expertise and ensuring that management systems are established and effectively used to maintain compliance. The ideal candidate will have the ability to adapt in a fast paced, changing environment, possess strong organizational skills with the ability to build professional relationships with numerous inter-dependent teams of different disciplines.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work with the site to drive and facilitate a strong safety culture
  • Responsible for managing and updating industrial hygiene programs
  • Perform industrial hygiene field measurements and safety evaluations
  • Execute approved methods, procedures, and techniques used in collecting and testing sample as dusts, mists, fumes, vapors, noise, non-ionizing radiation, cold, and heat stress and biological agents
  • Assess work place for occupational health hazards by observing work conditions, assessing records, conducting interviews, sampling, and monitoring chemical or physical agents;
  • Determine appropriate monitoring and sampling strategies,
  • Evaluate and interpret monitoring and sampling results, make determinations, and develop corrective strategies
  • Prepare accurate and complete technical reports of survey findings, and provide recommendations on how to correct hazardous conditions;
  • Advise and provide technical guidance and information to GF employee's regarding occupational safety and health issues and personal air monitoring results
  • Provide knowledge of toxicological effects of occupational hazards
  • Analyze and evaluate a wide variety of technical data, test results, reports, and plans
  • Evaluate all new or modified equipment with respect to Industrial Hygiene
  • Manage and assist with the development and implementation of site specific safety procedures and programs as assigned
  • Work with site groups and management to help ensure timely and complete root cause investigations of all safety incidents, as well as timely and sustainable closure of all assigned corrective actions
  • Participate with the site Executive Safety Representative committee
  • Manage site Process Safety Management (PSM) program and work with affected and covered departments
  • Work with teams on hazard identification, evaluation, control and provide appropriate risk mitigation strategies
  • Assist with new equipment and tool reviews and sign-offs
  • Educate site personnel on safety requirements and standards including conducting new hire and other ongoing safety training classes


Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Education: Associates Degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety or Health or closely related degree or equivalent military experience required
  • Experience: 2 years of relevant experience within a Manufacturing, Safety environment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Experience: 0-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Thorough working understanding of OSHA 1910 standards and regulations
  • Certified Safety Professional/ CIH certification preferred.
  • Thorough working understanding of PSM & RMP standards and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Industrial Hygiene preferred
  • Prior Semiconductor experience preferred but not essential
  • Ergonomic experience a plus
