The Safety Manager is responsible for providing direction, advice, and assessment to Operations, Transfill locations and overall management team in safety, health, and environmental related issues (i.e., regulatory policy and procedures, safety standards, and best practices) for Helium and Rare Gases operations.

Safety Manager

  • The Safety Manager is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
  • Prepares and maintains safety, Health and Environmental training for new employees
  • Supports Health, Safety, and Environmental activities within the Global Helium and Rare gases group
  • Audits performance and compliance with policies, programs, and procedures
  • Development and review of proactive safety and health programs
  • Identifies new health and safety programs needs or changes to existing programs
  • Advises and represents Company during regulatory actions
  • Attends operations meetings to review health & safety concerns and issues
  • Conducts Safety Meetings on topics designed to promote an understanding of company policies, programs, procedures
  • Participates as a technical member on Health and Safety Committee, and assists in driving completion of meetings
  • Conducts site surveys to assure compliance with Corporate Health and Safety policies, programs, procedures and guidelines, and proper work practices needed to maintain a safe and healthful operation and work site
  • Completes health and safety surveys as assigned, and prepare reports on observations
  • Refers non-compliance conditions, uncooperative supervision, illness or accident trends to Regional Health and Safety Manager
  • Performs root cause analysis on all safety incidents/accidents; Ensures preventative actions are implemented
  • Accountable for overall safety performance
  • Other duties as assigned


  • B.S. degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a closely related field preferred or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of progressive Health & Safety experience
  • Understanding of OSHA
  • Excellent knowledge of Federal and State health and safety regulation
  • Time management & the ability to work with little to no supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficent at Microsoft Office;
  • Communication and Collaboration skills - Both verbally and in writing with managers, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company at all Levels.
  • Strategic Thinking - Ability to leverage Safety insights and Best Practices to influence strategy and operations.
  • Change Leadership - Communicates business need for a change in safety strategy and processes. This includes defining vision state, leading change/engaging teams, and implementing
  • Analytical and problem-solving - Ability to analyze a breadth of data for relationships and in-depth understanding in order to influence safety plans and continuous improvement
  • Willing and able to travel 75% throughout the United States
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to travel and visit Plants. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
