Stenograph's Scrum Master & Agile Project Manager is responsible for leading and expanding upon the Agile mindset, toolset, and skillsets at Stenograph. As the organization increases the volume and speed of commercialization endeavors in the technology marketplace, the company must step up its Agile foundation. This role will be responsible for coaching all aspects of the business on Agile needs and best practices while facilitating Agile ceremonies and leading teams to success. They will serve as the liaison between the product teams and the engineering teams and work in unison with the program manager to provide clarity and transparency to project status and progress. As the organization reach a level of maturity and ability to self-sustain the methodology, the role will evolve to feature Agile project management toolsets to support digital transformation initiatives. The role will regularly interact with Stenograph leadership and is ultimately accountable to establish & govern the Agile methodology and assist teams with delivering on the vision of the company.

Responsibilities includes:

Scrum Master

  • Guiding engineering teams, product teams, and our Stenograph organization on how to best employ Agile & Scrum practices and values to improve existing Agile methodology.
  • Establish the universal Agile process at Stenograph for all programs to follow by default.
  • Train and coach leaders and managers on how to identify, size, design, and deliver on their efforts.
  • Assist the organization in adopting Agile best practices and enabling Agile champions.
  • Assessing the Scrum maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.
  • Supporting and educating product owners to refine and maintain the product backlog.
  • Provide support to the team using a servant leadership style and leading by example.
  • Remove impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments.
  • Develop & lead governance across services, act as our quality gate to ensure Scrum standards are adhered to and lead common Agile governance (retros, backlog reviews etc.).
  • Organizes and facilitates all Scrum ceremonies including daily stand-ups, retrospectives, etc.

Agile Project Management

  • Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or judgment, with an emphasis on improvement and problem-solving.
  • Influencing teams to complete deliverables without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work.
  • Facilitating discussions, decision making, and conflict resolution within the project teams.
  • Assisting with internal communication, improving transparency, and sharing information between team members and leadership.
  • Lead cross-functional project team meetings to communicate status, risks, and actions to team members and leadership teams.
  • Conduct weekly cross-functional project status meetings to drive alignment and accountability.
  • Raise awareness for risks and issues and work with teams to resolve and communicate solutions & impact.

Qualifications

The candidate will be a professional Scrum master or Agile coach with at least five years of broad experience in a dynamic technology environment. Specific examples and other qualifications include the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field is a plus.
  • Certified Scrum Master Certification (CSM) with a non-expired Scrum alliance license.
  • Minimum five years of experience working as a Scrum master or Agile coach.
  • 2-3 years working experience as a SAFe Agilist is a plus.
  • PMI PMP Project Management Professional active certification is a plus.
  • Experience working with MS DevOps, JIRA, Confluence, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability as a servant leader leading the team in all aspects of Scrum ceremonies applying all Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
  • Awareness and experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, being able to build and run at the same time, energized by a complex and evolving environment.
  • Experience in transforming a company with Agile initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills, and comfortable utilizing data to solve problems and following structured approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, happy to work with individuals, senior leaders, or large groups.
  • Experience managing and building relationships cross functionally.
  • Experience managing and developing other team members.
  • Excellent skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
