JOB DESCRIPTION

The Security Officer 1, under general supervision andconsistent with state law and departmental policy, provides customer serviceand a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, medical staff, andemployees. Incumbents may be exposed to inclement weather while patrollingassigned areas to detect any fire/safety hazards, deter the potential forcrime, and safeguard company assets and property from theft and criminalmischief.

 

• Assists Police Officers as required to maintainorder; to include assisting with arrests when requested or when a situationwarrants such assistance to maintain safety.

• Responds to various public service calls,including escorting patients, visitors, medical staff, and employees to parkingareas; providing directions and general information; providing assistance withstalled vehicles; assisting with unlocking vehicles and responding to parkingequipment malfunctions.

• Patrols assigned areas for the presence ofunauthorized persons or potential sources of crime, and maintains clear,appropriate and continuous radio contact with base, shift supervisor and otherofficers in the field.

• Transports legal documents, valuables,medical instruments, supplies other secure articles as assigned to ensure thesafe and timely transfer of valued articles.

• Responds to calls for service, includingcriminal offenses, civil process, hospital violations or customerservice-oriented requests. Intervenes in disturbances and maintains generalorder of the hospital environment.

• Maintains secure facilities by ensuringvarious doors are locked as required. Unlocks facilities upon receiving properauthorization.

• Produces complete, accurate and concisereports, to include criminal offenses, false fire alarms, safety hazards andgeneral information, consistent with internal processes and as prescribed bylaw.

• Controls the flow of traffic at designatedat points of interest and issues citations for parking violations.
