A client of ours, a large financial institution is currently seeing a Senior Accountant to join their team on a temporary basis. The right candidate will have previous expeirence as a staff accountant. The position will be hybrid our of Syracuse, NY.

Position:Senior Accountant

Job Type: Contract up to 1 year (hybrid out of Syracuse, NY office)

Salary: up to 72,800/year

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare complex accounting journal entries and collaborate with other departments to gather pertinent data for month-end close.
• Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
• Prepare monthly fluctuation analyses including explanation of variances.
• Respond to accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
• Assist with preparation of reports for internal and external audiences.
• Assist in the design and implementation of internal controls.
• Research, interpret and implement technical accounting guidance and make recommendations relative to accounting under U.S. GAAP.
• Assist in the documentation of accounting processes and procedures.
• Prepare supporting documents and perform tasks related to the external audit.
• Support annual budget preparation.
• Prepare or review monthly KPI's.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or other related field of study and minimum 4+ years in accounting or financial reporting under U.S. GAAP required.
• Broker-dealer or other related financial services industry experience preferred, but not required.
• Must possess strong multi-tasking skills.
• Must possess high ethical standards including honesty, integrity, and dedication.
• Proficient with Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Proficient with ERP GL software. Sage Intacct preferred, but not required.
