Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Senior Arborist/Urban Forester who will serve as the liaison between Rincon, our clients, contractors, and relevant agencies to ensure projects are compliant with conditions of approval. This position requires the ability to perform fieldwork on potentially difficult terrain and during adverse weather conditions, often independently, and may require occasional extended travel. The ideal candidate will be based out of Rincon's Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, or Redlands offices. A Rincon senior arborist/urban forester is a specialist who is knowledgeable about urban forestry and the management of trees, and would be required to provide tree health and risk assessments, determine potential impacts to trees resulting from development and construction activities, provide mitigation and best management practices recommendations; and prepare, interpret, and implement tree preservation plans for compliance to jurisdictional requirements. Rincon's arborists are not just International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborists® but have substantial experience with understanding the urban forest, preparing urban forest management plans, assessing tree conditions and assigning standardized risk levels, detailed tree inventory programs, and the presentation of findings in a concise, high quality report.

This Job Might Be For You If You Have The Following:

• Minimum B.S. in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Horticulture, Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, or another related field (candidates with the equivalent in knowledge and experience may also be considered)
• General knowledge and experience conducting:
  • Tree Inventories
  • Tree Valuations and Appraisals
  • Tree Risk Assessments
  • Tree Preservation and Protection Plans Preparation/Implementation
  • Tree Removal/Construction Monitoring
  • Review of Project Site Plans
  • Habitat Restoration Plans Preparation/Implementation
• Experience preparing Urban Forest Management Plans
• Familiarity working with large utility clients or in corridors on linear projects
• Knowledge of local ordinances
• Biological resource consulting experience is a plus (e.g., compliance monitoring, botanical surveys, wildlife surveys, etc.)
• Ability to identify local trees and knowledge of growth rates

Qualified Candidates Will Have the Following:

• Experience working with data collection devices (i.e. tablets and electronic forms), iTree (or similar), and GIS software
• Basic understanding of computers and experience with Microsoft Office Suite Required
• Valid Driver License and satisfactory driving record
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong customer relation skills
• Ability to work in varied terrain and inclement weather with flexible schedules (available nights and weekends as needed)
• Minimum qualification; 8+ years of experience as a certified arborist
• ISA Certification
• Highly motivated with excellent documentation skills, interpersonal skills, and communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Detail oriented; resourceful; strong time management skills; ability to work independently in the field
• Must work well with people
