Performs data exploration and analysis on large datasets and develops models for use in the Managed Care area. Identify correlations, patterns and trends in medical, pharmacy and clinical management data. Build data models to help the department and company identify areas of opportunity for medical, indemnity and expense cost savings and increased efficiency. Interact and consult with client facing staff and Managed Care leadership on metrics and outcome data.

Responsibilities

  • Completes projects that require data mining, analysis, and presentation.
  • Use data reporting tools to develop reports and dashboards. (Hyperion, Qlik, MicroStrategy)
  • Focuses on solutions, quickly identifies drivers in the data.
  • Performs root cause analysis of issues.
  • Identifies, analyzes and interprets trends or patterns in complex medical and pharmacy data sets.
  • Acquires data from primary or secondary data sources and Managed Care business partners, develops thorough working knowledge of the data, and maintains databases/data systems.
  • Supports data-related initiatives through defining business requirements, testing and assisting with solutions implementation.
  • Works closely with management and other members of the Managed Care leadership to prioritize business and information needs.
  • Locates and defines new process improvement opportunities.
  • Drives and assists with data analysis to improve operations including uncovering anomalies and performing research of other forms of key operational data.
  • Creates ad-hoc extracts and reports using various tools to meet both internal needs and external requests.
  • Creates and maintains reports that are critical to management of the department.
  • Demonstrates commitment to Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, and apply knowledge of compliance policies and procedures, standards and laws applicable to job responsibilities in the performance of work.


Requirements:
  • BS in Actuarial Science, Business, Computer Science, Economics, Information Management or Statistics preferred.
  • Statistics, data analysis, data-driven computation are all relevant areas of study
  • 2+ years of experience as a data analyst, preferably in a Managed Care environment.
  • Experience in development of data visualization dashboards (Qlik, Tableau, etc.)
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques.
  • Working familiarity with tools like Excel, Qlik, Tableau, Hyperion/Oracle, Access, MicroStrategy and SQL.
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to analyze business needs and translate these into clearly defined requirement documentation.
  • Ability to interact with business and technology experts to help determine the technical feasibility of requirements.
