Investigates, evaluates and resolves claims of a more complex nature in order to achieve appropriate outcomes. Provide a superior level of customer service to internal and external business partners. Administers and resolves claims in a timely manner and in accordance with legal statutes, policy provisions, and company guidelines. This position is typically assigned Motor Truck Cargo claims, Large Vehicle Auto Physical Damage claims as well as Transit claims for property lost or damaged. Claims may include complex losses, coverage issues as well as a pending of some litigated files. Position will also include oversight and management of the Independent Adjusters that are also involved in the programs.

Essential Functions

• Promptly investigates all assigned claims for coverage, liability, damages and subrogation. Ensures timely disposition of all claims in accordance with regulatory and statutory requirements.
• Within granted authority, establishes appropriate loss and expense reserves with documented rationale. Maintains and adjusts reserves over the life of the claim to reflect changes in exposure. Notifies appropriate claim management when exposure exceeds authority. Negotiates claims resolution within granted authority.
• Establishes and executes appropriate action plans for claim resolution including loss cost management while achieving appropriate balance between allocated expense and loss outcome.
• Works collaboratively with internal and external business partners in investigating and reaching appropriate disposition of all claims.
• Selects and manages legal counsel to achieve appropriate balance between allocated expense and loss outcome.
• Maintains a strong working knowledge of regulatory and jurisdictional requirements for assigned claims territory.
• Demonstrates technical proficiency through timely, consistent execution of best claim practices and established claims handling guidelines.
• Communicates effectively with internal and external customers on claims and account issues. Provides a high degree of customer service.
• Maintain and manage a diary system and claim pending to efficiently and effectively resolve all claims.
• Manages litigation to achieve appropriate financial outcomes. Effectively manages defense counsel to properly protect the insured and PMA interests.
• Some travel involved throughout the U.S.
• Demonstrate commitment to Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, and apply knowledge of compliance policies and procedures, standards and laws applicable to job responsibilities in the performance of work.

Requirements:

• Bachelors' degree or 5 or more years of equivalent work experience in handling Motor Truck Cargo, Auto Physical Damage and Property in Transit losses.
• Strong background in handling Motor Truck Cargo claims.
• Experienced in managing Independent Adjusters.
• Experienced with cargo coverage and damage investigations.
• Extensive knowledge of regulations and applicable law, preferably in multiple jurisdictions.
• Extensive knowledge of insurance contracts and adjusting techniques.
• Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
• Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and exercise good judgment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Computer literacy, including working knowledge of MS Office including Word and Excel.
• Demonstrated teamwork skills.
• Advanced skills in applying sound judgment/analysis, decision making/problem solving, planning and organization and negotiation.
