Senior Cyber Security Engineer

The PacBio Software Team is looking for a Cyber-Security expert to help us deliver on our promise to achieve better human health through genomics. This role will be critical to help drive the business into the cloud and clinical space. Responsibilities:

• Establish appropriate scope for cybersecurity environment, identify asset vulnerabilities, threat actors and attack vectors.
• Design and implement information security policies and procedures that meet the organization's specific needs
• Articulate security policy controls based on defined hazards and vulnerabilities and security context.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams during design phase to provide guidance on building products that are secure-by-design.
• Educating Developers on Best Practices: Act as a subject matter expert in security principles and practices, providing guidance and training to software developers. This includes conducting workshops, seminars, and one-on-one sessions to ensure developers are well-versed in writing secure code and understanding the latest security trends and threats.
• As an engineer, you will influence the design and implementation for our technologies and products.
• Maintain a cyber security score card for our products.
• Help author business cases for cyber security initiatives.
• Conduct threat assessments for upcoming product lines and translate those into requirements.
• Interrogate system layers including network topology, data flow, access points and trust boundaries for vulnerabilities.
• Develop and document recommendations to remediate issues through (non)adversarial threat modeling.
• Stay up to date on Industry identified vulnerabilities and corresponding risks to our technology stacks.
• Providing technical security advice and consulting with staff on security best practices.
• Knowledge with Cloud Native Platforms including Kubernetes, Open Shift, Docker, or Cloud Foundry in the public cloud.
• Exposure to and knowledge of OS security, applied cryptography, and key management.

Position Requirements:

• Typically requires a minimum of 4-8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 2-6 years experience with Masters degree; or 0-5 years experience with a PhD.
• A degree in Computer Science or related, or equivalent industry experience.
• Proficiency in a major programming language like C/C++, Python, Scala, or Java.
• 5+ years Cyber Security Engineer work experience or equivalent skill level.
• 2+ years working with cloud-connected devices, experience with analytical instruments desired.
• Knowledge of security frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and CIS Controls.
• Advanced knowledge of network architectures, protocols, and network security.
• Relevant cyber or audit and compliance certifications e.g., CISSP or GSEC certification desired.
• Experience working with clinical devices.
• A strong understanding of the current threat landscape including the latest tactics, tools, procedures, and effective techniques for detecting this malicious activity.
• Excellent time management and prioritization skills with a strong ability to plan, prioritize, and execute projects independently or in coordination with other teams.
• Excellent ability to communicate to technical and non-technical audiences with a positive, collaborative, and enablement-focused attitude.

Non-Field Based Employees are required to be onsite Monday-Thursday (Friday work from home). Depending on the role, some employees may be required to be 100% onsite.

Salary Range:
$128,800.00 - $193,200.00
