Job Info

The Sheynkman Lab in the Department of Molecular Physiology and Biological Physics at the University of Virginia School of Medicine seeks applicants for a Senior Data Analyst. The Sheynkman Lab integrates both experimental and computational approaches to study disease-relevant protein isoforms. Technologies used included long-read RNA sequencing (PacBio, Oxford Nanopore platforms) and state-of-the-art mass spectrometry approaches. We are seeking a candidate that has experience in both molecular biology techniques as well as bioinformatic skills.

Senior Data Analysts analyze data to draw conclusions and provide sophisticated analysis and reports. • Perform statistical analysis in R or other packages

  • Perform bioinformatic analysis using existing packages such as those found in Bioconductor or Python-based packages

  • Collaborate with other members of the laboratory to develop functional protein assays

In addition to the responsibilities above, other duties may be assigned:

  • Manage the analysis of information and identify, interpret, and report the trends or patterns found in data sets. Deliver recommendations based on findings.

  • Synthesize data analysis by creating graphs, reports, and presentations of results in order to make strategic and programmatic decisions.

  • Manage the development of content for seminars, forums, and presentations. Present data in a way that can be easily and quickly grasped by stakeholders.
