An American Company is seeking a Senior Data Engineer in Hybrid / Raleigh, NC.

Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking a talented, highly motivated senior data engineer with experience in designing and developing data and analytics solutions in a cloud environment. The successful candidate will work on a team building next generation data solutions on AWS for our Risk & Underwriting business unit. This is an excellent opportunity for a flexible individual with an energetic and enthusiastic approach who wishes to work in a highly collaborative and fast paced environment.

Our technological platform is constantly evolving as we apply new and emerging technologies to our expanding business. The Risk & Underwriting data engineering team manages data and analytics solutions at the head of company's risk portfolios management strategy and supports a global user base. The nature of our business demands high levels of agility, which in turn requires our team to be technically superior. • Design and develop data and analytics solutions, automated tests, documentation, and related processes to meet and exceed the requirements of the business
• Lead the technical design efforts for these solutions. Contribute to architecture discussions at a portfolio level and engage with enterprise architecture initiatives
• Understand and contribute to our strategic architecture initiatives, and act as a day-to-day champion to progress these within the portfolio.
• Propose architectures, supported by high quality artifacts that align with our overall strategic architecture direction
• Produce code following the established engineering standards
• Estimate development effort for the wider technical solutions being developed by the squad
• Meet and exceed the quality, reliability, resilience, scalability, and stability goals
• Provide technical leadership for squad members
• Mentor and coach junior members of the squad in the technical and business domains
• Advance the technical and design skills of the squad
• Embrace the company culture and consistently demonstrate it in daily activities

Skills & Requirements

• 7+ years of experience working in Data and Analytics, with domain expertise in architecting, designing, and developing end-to-end data solutions
• A degree-level education in a relevant discipline or equivalent industry experience
• A proven track record of technical and architectural leadership of teams using a range of data technologies
• A proven ability for design with a detailed understanding of industry standards and norms across data and BI, including but not limited, to ETL, data & dimensional modelling and reporting. Experience of large-scale solution design and architecture
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required
• Flexibility to work independently or as part of a team is required
• Proficiency in SQL is essential

Desired Skills
• A track record of supporting design and architecture proposals with high-quality, tangible artifacts to effectively communicate the same.
• The ability to lead technical and architectural discussions
• A holistic approach to technical decision making is required.
• Detailed knowledge of Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment practices with practical knowledge of DevOps principles
• Demonstrable analytic and problem-solving skills
• A passion for quality throughout all aspects of work and a strong understanding of the non-functional requirements of solutions, with the ability to deliver on these.
• An ability to take on leadership responsibilities is preferred
• Working experience in AWS (or other cloud services like Microsoft Azure)
• Strong software development skills, primarily in C# / .Net
• Experience working with AWS S3 (or other cloud-based storage services)
• Deep experience working with RDMS (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, etc.)
• An understanding of Data Mesh concepts and associated data storage formats such as Apache Parquet
• Working knowledge of the Dremio data lake-house platform
