Position Purpose:

The Senior IT Systems Administrator working out of Woodridge, Illinois corporate office will build and maintain the network and systems infrastructure that supports the day-to-day global business operations of Hendrickson. The stable operation of the company's key network infrastructure equipment, including planning, architecture, development, integration and support is essential for the operation of Hendrickson facilities around the world. This position requires strong communication skills, high degree of organization, solid technical skills, and the ability to analyze complex situations.

Essential Functions

• Provide technical leadership in all aspects of network troubleshooting to maximize network uptime.
• Work with customer to resolve network performance or configuration issues.
• Design and deploy complex network solutions (LAN, WAN, WLAN).
• Configure and install routers, switches, wireless LAN controllers, access points, next-generation firewalls, and SD-WAN appliances.
• Create clear and professional documentation and diagrams of all solution designs.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in LAN/WAN design and mentor team members when required.
• Work with 3rd party technical resources that assist with network systems management.
• Technical lead for the planning, architecture, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of WAN infrastructure including critical site redundant SDWAN / MPLS links.
• Technical lead for the planning, architecture, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of LAN infrastructure of all sites directly supported by IT Staff Operations. Coordinate with divisional sites that maintain their own LAN infrastructure to make sure all base and security related configurations are implemented and maintained according to corporate requirements.
• Manage and monitor all company network infrastructures, including switches, routers and associated equipment. Upgrade and/or coordinate IOS and security patching for network hardware.
• Technical lead for the planning, installation, configuration, and maintenance of all corporate firewalls and related management servers including VPN and multi-factor authentication services.
• Plan, implement and maintain network security measures globally such as NAC and isolated VLAN's.
• Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
• Identify utilization patterns and their effect on operation/system availability and performance expectations. Make recommendations based on analytics to improve performance and optimization of network infrastructure.
• Investigate, recommend, and seek approvals to install enhancements and operating procedures that optimize network availability.
• Can work directly and communicate effectively with customers, assessing their issues and assisting with the remediation of their problems with respect to setting up products, services, and applications.
• Maintain confidentiality with regards to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the users and administrators access the network.
• Ensure industry best practice conventions for network, Internet and computer security are implemented and supported.
• Prepare and maintain documentation related to network, security, hardware and software systems.
• Must exhibit the highest qualities of professionalism, self-initiative, enthusiasm, and work ethic.
• Ability to interface with customers and provide group and / or one-on-one support and training.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Ability to travel domestic and international to division and plant sites as required.
• Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to needs of the systems being supported.

Education and Training

• Bachelor's degree in business or computer related field required.
• Cisco Certifications required CCNA route switch, CCNP route switch
• Cisco Certifications additionally desired CCNA security

Minimum Qualifications

• 7+ years' experience in IT with 3 years of demonstrated experience in an enterprise class network environment.
• 4+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining an enterprise network environment with Cisco products.
• Strong proficiency with new technologies/platforms/software.
• Understanding of technical infrastructure to make modifications, design, and optimization enhancements.
• Self-starter with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of interior and exterior routing protocols, OSPF, MPBGP, MPLS, BGP and SD-WAN technologies.
• Strong knowledge of core switching designs such as VLAN, RSTP, HSRP, VTP, LACP and 802.1Q.
• Experience with designing and supporting wireless network infrastructure, 11a/g/n/ac Cisco WLC, CAPWAP.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with logical problem solving from Layer 1 through Layer 7 of the OSI model.
• Knowledge and experience with modern datacenter designs, using Cisco Nexus/ACI technology.
• Hands on experience with Cisco ISE/ RADIUS.
• Working experience with Microsoft Windows 2008, 2012R2, 2016, 2019, Linux, Active directory, and other Microsoft applications and services such as Azure.
• Must possess project management and leadership skills.

This position will require the ability to travel up to 10% to plant locations both in the US and perhaps internationally
