SUMMARY

The Head of Inhouse Consulting - North America serves as a true business partner by leading the management of consulting projects within North America in the areas of restructuring / turnarounds, mergers & acquisitions (M&A), operational performance improvements and digitalization initiatives.

  • Responsible for the concept and implementation of regional consulting office (Green-field approach) by defining and implementing regional processes, methods, and systems.
  • Define regional business model and related invoicing concept; implement in alignment with the MAHLE Controlling and Finance organization.
  • Manage the Inhouse Consulting Team North America with two locations in US and Mexico.
  • Evaluate business impact and preparation of strategic group decisions concerning a variety of topics such as footprint, M&A, operational performance, and digitization strategy.
  • Serve as a leader of change and innovation. Challenge status quo, effectively influence others (at all levels of the organization) to embrace change, overcome resistance and seek out outstanding ideas and implement.
  • As needed, support the development of a wide variety of operational improvement initiatives, workshops and projects designed to improve throughput time, flexibility, quality and value utilizing lean techniques such as Kaizen, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED), 8-D, Problem Solving and Value Analysis which result in significant efficiency improvements.
  • Establish measurement systems where needed to identify opportunities and to quantify implemented improvements.
  • Responsible for project acquisition and planning in coordination with internal partners within the North America.
  • Support miscellaneous global, regional & local cross functional projects.
  • Ensure compliance with project goals, budget control and project status reports.
  • Compile lessons learned with internal project partners; execute changes accordingly.
  • Continuously develop team knowledge in the form of specialist knowledge, advisory methods, and training courses.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for supervising the regional Consulting team, including team members in the US & Mexico.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
  • Bachelor's degree or higher is required preferably in engineering, industrial engineering, or business administration. Masters of Business Administration is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience, including experience in automotive manufacturing processes, with 5 years in progressive levels of management. Plant experience is desirable. Manufacturing consulting experience is a plus.
  • Greenfield experience, including processes, structures, and employee qualification is strongly desired.
  • Proven track record for delivering strategic results and executing effective change management. Well-developed leadership and project management capabilities with demonstrated success in completing core-business, cross-functional and cross-cultural projects is required.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of the P&L.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and build credibility as a "peer" with Global Functions and Region.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 of facilitation/leadership experience in which several of the following abilities have been demonstrated:
    • Building executive-level customer relationships and responding to strategic business needs.
    • Managing resources to meet goals across multiple products/programs.
    • Leading multidisciplinary, high-performance teams.
  • Global or multi-national business experience is a plus.
  • Excellent vision regarding benchmarking and year over year progress is fundamental to this role.
  • Proven understanding & successful application of Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies including Kaizen, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED), 8-D, Problem Solving and Value Analysis.
  • Ability to handle projects with multiple workstreams, with proven leadership success over a wide variety of business problems.
  • Proven planning abilities, including successful execution of such plans.
  • Strong initiative and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt Certification is preferred.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Domestic/international travel (up to 50%) with/without overnight stay will be required.
