Purpose and Scope:

The role will take leadership on identified categories on a largely Regional basis and be accountable for all supply-related aspects for given categories and as such, to ensure industry leading value whilst maintaining alignment with business needs. The role will have the following core goals:


* Be fully accountable for the leadership of identified categories on a largely Regional basis. Identified categories will be characterized by levels of spend between $30m-$90m accompanied by an appropriate level of complexity & fragmentation
* Develop, execute and be accountable for Category Strategies that are aligned with business requirements, provide short-, medium- and long-term focus and generate market-leading deliverables
* Be accountable and responsible for managing key stakeholder relationships within the identified categories
* Work with the Global Category Lead, Category Managers and key Regional/Global Procurement team members to define & execute the Category Strategy
* Lead sourcing activities for spend category, with the goal of achieving cost reductions, while maintaining/improving product quality and supplier service levels
* Works closely with key stakeholders to develop effective cost reduction strategies and implementation plans
* Apply leading tools & techniques to segment suppliers for the category, analyze market trends & constraints and deliver a broad range of value chain initiatives to improve performance, reliability, quality and life cycle costs



Essential Job Responsibilities:

Lead on developing, implementing and subsequently reviewing procurement strategies for the whole procurement cycle in a specific category/sub-category spend area ensuring this approach is agreed with relevant stakeholders


* Conducting strategic sourcing initiatives, including fact based negotiations (supplier and industry analysis. benchmarks, cost structure analysis) for relevant categories
* Engage with internal stakeholders in order to generate ideas and opportunities and ensure the Category strategy and plans are aligned to functional and business targets. Collect demand of business units; if required, align with key supplier management across regions
* Champion TCO reductions and ensure annual value delivery objectives for the Strategic Procurement of assigned category are met
* Determine and continually monitor current supply market position in the specific category spend area to identify risks. Recommend actions to mitigate risks
* Defining supplier management strategy and executing strategic supplier relationship management with key suppliers
* Implement both supplier rationalisation programmes and strategies to develop new sources of supply as appropriate to optimise competition
* Establish Marketing and Stakeholder Engagement plans in order to create positive working relationships with senior regional/sub-global stakeholders; leveraging these relationships to influence and win support for Procurement transformation
* Monitor the performance of both individual services/products and their category/sub-category. Using this information, continuously assess their sub-category/category strategies and develop solutions to improve performance
* Be recognized as the Regional Category expertise for the Category and utilize this knowledge to act as a 'Change Agent' for implementing new commercial models and ways of working



Quantitative Dimensions:


* In Scope Spend: Managing a Category spend of approximately $30m-$90m
* Ad-Hoc Management: With interact with and lead multi-functional teams
* Travel: Key area of the role will be to support with, align and influence Global/Regional stakeholders and therefore, global/regional travel will be required (~20% of role)
* Contribute significantly to Procurement savings delivery target of ~$200m P&L impact

Qualifications

Required


* Degree required
* Successful, multi-year track record in Procurement and in-depth understanding of the Category Management process
* Negotiation skills or with ability to achieve the optimal commercial solutions whilst maintaining credibility and a long-term supplier relationship. Understanding of legal requirements and risk management within procurement projects
* Sound understanding an experience of managing suppliers including supplier development, drivers of costs, understanding of relevant markets and supply relationship management
* Experience in all Procurement disciplines including Procurement Strategy, Strategic Sourcing, Procure-to-Pay, Procurement Systems and Category Management
* Experience in financial analysis techniques to analyze reports, determine product and category performance, and seek ways to improve performance
* 5+ years of experience in Category Management
* Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills (multiple complex analyses simultaneously)
* Advanced sourcing toolkit and supply base management
* Strong analytical skills
* Evidence of developing innovative commercial solutions using a wide range of value levers
* Strong understanding of Category Strategy formulation and execution and the different approaches to be applied to different kinds of spend & supply markets
* Advanced negotiation and contractual skills
* Deep understanding of supply base management
