What You Will Contribute:
Badger Meter is looking for a Senior Mechanical Designer to join our Milwaukee or Racine team! This individual is responsible for providing skilled technical assistance to Engineering in the development of products. This candidate is expected to prepare designs, construct accurate 3D CAD models, layouts, specifications, and preliminary drawings used to fabricate and assemble new or modified products and components.
Job Duties:
- Creates and/or modifies component and assembly design layouts, conducts dimensional stack-up analysis, and completes component, assembly, and proposal drawings.
- Conducts all design work in PTC Creo CAD packages.
- Creates and maintains bill of materials and item masters within ERP System.
- Designs products for ease of manufacturing with high reliability that is in compliance with customer requirements.
- Checks engineering drawings, parts lists, and test sheets for accuracy and thoroughness.
- Ensures all Engineering Requests are processed efficiently, effectively, and consistently.
- Attends design review meetings as required.
- Tracks and reports status of design assignments and ensures assigned work deadlines are met.
- Ability to work and coordinate with outside contractors for new product development.
- Works closely with Mechanical and Electrical Engineers to accomplish the overall project goals.
- 3D CAD Modeling and detailed print generation for new product development
- Coordinating with engineers to ensure product design meets requirements / attending project meetings
- Processing engineering changes
- Setting up and maintaining ERP system item master and bill of material
- Additional projects, tasks, and /or assignments as needed
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in design related field - Industrial design, Mechanical Design/Drafting, Engineering Graphics Technology, etc.
- 5+ years of 3D CAD modeling experience
- Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, PTC Creo and Inventor
- Experienced in mechanical component design (machined, cast, molded and sheet metal components), assembly drawings and the creation of BOM's.
- Experience using computer-aided drafting principles, geometric tolerancing fundamentals, and established design standards to create mechanical designs for manufacturing.
- Dynamic modeling and/or simulation modeling and execution desired
- Familiarity with compliance agencies and protocols such as CSA, UL, CE, etc. desired
