Duties and responsibilities

• Prepare, process, calculate and audit bi-weekly, multi-state, full cycle payroll for 1000 + employees ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payroll checks
• Ensure payroll data is reported correctly to federal, state and local agencies, maintaining compliance of payroll laws
• Departmental support efforts in collaboration with the Sr. Payroll Manager on research and response to payroll inquiries, including taxes and tax notices, deductions, wage withholding and other applicable payroll data
• Understand timely tax reporting and deposit process, including quarterly 941 reporting
• Compile payroll data and create payroll reports as needed
• Participation in payroll year-end functions to include reconciliation, processing of W-2 and W-2C forms and other tax forms as needed
• Demonstrate continuous efforts to improve operations, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality teammate support
• Provide backup to Sr. Payroll Manager

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of functional payroll experience in high volume setting, required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, required
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree, preferred
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) designation or path to designation, preferred
• Experience with UltiPro/UKG HRIS, required
• Demonstrated experience and proficiency in Payroll and Time and Attendance systems
• Knowledge of payroll related deductions and the impact on payroll and tax (401K, GTL, FSA, etc.)
• Problem solving skills and the ability to work through root cause analysis in payroll and system issues
• Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) Compliance
• Detailed oriented and able to handle multiple activities, independently and as part of a team
• Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively while working under pressure to meet strict deadlines
• Ability to communicate with employees at all levels
