Reporting to the Senior Manager, Digital Patient Experience- Delivery Team, the Senior Project Manager will work across and between MGB Digital, MGB Operations, and other external groups to drive Patient Experience & Virtual Care. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the execution of large project plans and critical paths, for both mature programs and early stage program development needs .

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop project goals, objectives, approach, and scope through negotiation and diplomacy that result in a well-defined, well-sponsored project.
  • Develop workplans and timelines to meet project goals for large complex projects
  • Contribute to the development of Digital strategies and solutions that align with Digital standards and strategic directions.
  • Assists in the implementation of new operational processes and governance models
  • Contribute to the development of capital and operating funding requirements associated with a project. Manage a project within its budget.
  • Work independently but recognize when the involvement of senior management is required.
  • Plan, manage and oversee projects, using recognized project management methods including:

    • Definition of project scope and objectives
    • Management and status reporting tools
    • Feasibility and cost benefit studies
    • Requirements definition (functional and/or technical)
    • System testing/quality assurance
    • Training
    • Implementation
    • Post-implementation/on-going support
    • Project administrative activities
    • Documentation

  • Manage projects within the context of the larger environment including competing priorities, staffing levels, and budgetary concerns. Provide appropriate and timely problem escalation (including potential solutions where applicable) to Digital leadership, project steering committees, and executive management.
  • Provide on-going project status reports to Digital leadership, user groups, project steering committee and executive hospital management.
  • Understands, partners and networks with all stakeholders, understands key decision makers
  • Establish and create a positive project environment through leadership and mentoring.
  • Provide quality customer service, providing on-going communication, feedback and follow-through with customers and executive management.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree required, Masters Degree preferred
  • 8+ years of related experience including three to five years administrative management experience in a healthcare environment; experience working directly with senior clinicians & managers preferred.
  • Must have 5 - 7 years project management experience
  • Demonstrated Project/Program Management expertise and refined skill
  • Technical background preferred but not a must
Skills/Abilities/Competencies:

  • Demonstrated ability to leverage multiple data sources to arrive at usability recommendations that enhance the user's interaction with the EMR
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills
  • Strong commitment to customer service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work requirements
  • Ability to understand the program environment and competing priorities in conjunction with program goals.
  • Ability to provide direction as needed to team members, other staff and consultants.
  • Ability to work within a complex, multi-site environment
  • Ability to handle stressful situations in calm and professional manner
  • Ability to cooperatively and effectively work with people from various organization levels (entry level staff to senior leadership) and build consensus through negotiation and diplomacy
  • Strong PC / Microsoft skills required (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio)

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • No direct reports; may provide guidance to less seasoned and new staff
Fiscal Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by effectively using Mass General Brigham resources
  • Awareness of budget and implications for project
Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • This position requires occasional local travel to MGB sites, vendors, and/or conferences
  • Hospital work environment working conditions include possible exposure to diseases or infections and may require safety gear (PPE) such as gloves and mask.
  • Normal office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk; or hear; use hands to finger; handle; or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop; kneel; or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception.
