SUMMARY

The Senior Public Health Consultant will provide writing and analysis support to the CDC Epilepsy Program, coordinating a team of editors and graphic consultants to produce a formal report on Epilepsy Program progress. Must be able to work remotely and independently to provide senior level analysis and product development support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Solely responsible for review of program documentation, synthesis, and scientific writing / report preparation.

Develops written milestone deliverables.

Reviews all existing program documentation, determines level of importance to written products, synthesizes and incorporates into report.

Coordinates graphics team to ensure appropriate graphics are developed to convey key report topics.

Ensures 508 Compliance of final product.

Coordinates with report editorial team to ensure quality of deliverables and final product.

Interfaces with customer for in process review meetings.

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Master's degree required in Public Health or related field. Fifteen (15+) or more years' experience developing written public health products for government customers, particularly within the Department of Health and Human Services. Must be capable via education and experience to comprehend epilepsy and neurological concepts and information.

CERTIFICATES / LICENSES / REGISTRATION

U.S. Citizens only due to government or federal requirement

JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

Demonstrated ability to review, understand, synthesize and edit scientific material related to Epilepsy or other neurological disorders.

Ability to work independently, with very limited supervision.

Proven ability to write cogent, yet persuasive scientific reports.

Must provide samples of prior written products, redacted as necessary.

Exceptional organization skills with ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Exceptional customer service and relationship-building skills.

Adept analytical and critical thinking skills.

Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work independently, stay highly organized, juggle multiple responsibilities and adjust to new tasks.

Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.

Ability to provide background information about the project, answer questions and provide updates to CDC, CNI project managers and local health department staff.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
