SUMMARY

  • Lead and support engineering projects within the R&D group and to assist with Business Development through customer interaction and proposal writing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and support engineering programs in the R&D group
  • Analyze test results and prepare technical reports and papers
  • Provide specialist technical advice and direction to engineering department in support of R&D and other Group projects
  • Engage in and lead Business Development activities for the R&D group: interact with customers, identify and pursue leads with potential customers, generate and present Business Development material, lead the quotation process (proposal development, iteration with customer, budget and schedule planning, quotation delivery, adherence to MPT quoting procedures).
  • Identify relevant research growth areas, plan realistic activities in these areas, present proposals to management
  • Resolve problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts
  • Analyze technology trends and market demand in order to plan projects effectively
  • Confer with management and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for developing new technologies or products
  • Advise management of new developments that may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations
  • Through periodic literature search, conference attendance, and industrial relationships, maintain a working knowledge of new technologies that may improve operations and research, and develop recommendations accordingly
  • Confer with project staff to outline work-plan and to agree on duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority
  • Maintain awareness of the Company Quality System
  • Required to observe all safety rules and regulations. Must act safely and be responsible for the safety of others around work area
  • Employee's duties are not limited to those stated above, but are inclusive of any tasks assigned by supervisor/manager

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline is required plus at least five years' experience, or equivalent combination of Graduate Degree and experience.
  • Specialized knowledge of thermodynamics and engine combustion principles
  • Must have an understanding of the fundamentals of modern engine design and function
  • In depth knowledge of engine test procedures and processes including Mechanical, Performance development, durability and rig testing
  • In depth specialist knowledge of internal combustion engines and testing techniques
  • Familiarity with current advanced combustion engine research
  • Significant experience in a laboratory setting resulting in the ability to design and implement experimental platforms, perform experiments, and ensure adequate data quality
  • Knowledge of 1D and 3D analysis techniques and software
  • Familiarity with CFD simulation software such as Converge, Star CCM, etc
  • Deep expertise in and fundamental understanding of 1D and CFD simulation
  • Work effectively with a variety of people such as; management, design, calibration and build engineers, as well as customers and supplier representatives
  • Must be self-motivated and the possess the drive to complete tasks in a timely manner and with appropriate attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to strict time constraints
  • Excellent presentation skills are a necessity
  • Microsoft Office Skills
