Job Description Summary
The Department of Surgery, Division of Urology is recruiting a Senior Research Investigator to establish and manage the Translational Urologic Oncology Surgery Laboratory under the direction of Dr. Trinity J. Bivalacqua with a goal of development of novel therapeutics including immunotherapy, vaccines, small molecular inhibitors, and nano-particle delivered chemotherapy. Experimentation involves cellular and small animal models (rodents). Later stages projects will likely involve clinical investigation as well in particular next generation sequencing of archived and frozen tumor tissue. The Research Investigator Senior will be responsible for the design of the translational/basic science experiments to test hypotheses related to mechanisms of BCG-resistance in the tumor micro-environment. The candidate will have a leadership role and will be responsible for the supervision of all lab staff. The candidate will be independent, self-driven, organized, and possess excellent managerial and scientific writing skills. Small animal operative skills would be beneficial. The candidate should be proficient in independent paper and grant writing. The highly qualified candidate will have excellent opportunities for growth, independence and teaching in a dynamic lab with the goal to transition to independence.
Position is contingent upon grant funding.

Qualifications
Highly advanced professional discipline. M.D., Ph. D., or equivalent doctoral degree and 5 years of postdoctoral experience is required
