The Shriver Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands-on training in the following areas: Certified Nurse Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant, Medical Administration Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Plumbing, Painting, Security and Protective Services, HVAC, Landscaping, Electrical, and Building Construction Technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Mentorship and Guidance:
    • Provide one-on-one mentorship to students, fostering a positive and supportive relationship.
    • Guide students in setting and achieving personal, educational, and career goals.
    • Act as a role model, demonstrating professionalism, responsibility, and a strong work ethic.
  • Residential Community Building:
    • Cultivate a sense of community within the residential setting, promoting a safe and inclusive environment.
    • Organize and facilitate community-building activities, creating opportunities for students to connect and build positive relationships.
  • Crisis Intervention and Support:
    • Address and resolve conflicts among students with empathy and professionalism.
    • Provide emotional support during challenging times, helping students navigate personal and academic difficulties.
  • Life Skills Development:
    • Implement programs and workshops focused on essential life skills, such as communication, time management, and problem-solving.
    • Collaborate with other staff members to integrate life skills into the overall education and training curriculum.
  • Collaboration with Educational Staff:
    • Work closely with educational and vocational instructors to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
    • Provide feedback on student progress and collaborate on strategies for individualized support.
  • Promoting a Positive Learning Environment:
    • Enforce residential policies and procedures to maintain a safe and respectful living environment.
    • Encourage a culture of academic excellence, personal responsibility, and mutual respect.
  • Professional Development:
    • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in youth development, counseling, and education.
    • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Previous experience working with youth in a residential or educational setting.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Passion for helping young individuals overcome challenges and achieve success.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of professionals.
