Job Duties Include:
Employ knowledge of satellite communications to include ground terminals (VSAT and small form-factor transceivers), space vehicles (LEO, GEO), US military satellite systems (MILSATCOM), and ground stations to determine applicability to customer’s mission and future endeavors of the customer. Complete and/or review network service requests
Provide systems engineering support in satellite communications to characterize usage for a new state of the art small form-factor radios using best practice systems engineering principles in addition to documenting results in an appropriate cogent report for distribution to multiple levels of decision-making authorities.
Generate and provide commentary and analysis of presentations, ICDs, SOPs, CONOPS and contract documentation for applicability to new opportunities in special communications related activities.
Identify state of the art technologies to support the customer's mission through trade magazines and attendance at conferences and technology focus seminars as well as gather and develop requirements to ensure incorporation into future systems to fulfill mission.
Facilitate cooperation between multiple levels of the customer and multiple organizations across the government on communications-based projects, facilitate communication between the contract PM and customer for the division's team, and coordinate the customer's requests amongst the team members.
Provide expertise for technologies, such as: software defined radios, digital signal processing, radio frequency (RF) hardware design, satellite communications architectures, antenna design, waveform design, and wireless communications.
Perform studies and deliver reports to describe end-to-end system architectures and identify areas of vulnerability to cyber-attack and/or collection of signals from the RF environment to better understand risks to communications systems and take corrective action to minimize those risks.
Generate and provide commentary and analysis of presentations, ICD’s, SOPs, CONOPS, and contract documentation for applicability to new opportunities.
Analyze and study complex operational and engineering requirements and decompose them into detailed actionable system requirements, perform technical trade-off studies, and assist in developing and maintaining enterprise and system level architecture artifacts.
Participate in technical reviews, recommending and implementing appropriate corrective action to resolve technical and non-technical issues, define external dependencies and system support requirements, and perform technical research, innovation, leading edge planning and assisting with the implementation of new tools and methods.
Conduct independent investigations of system designs, attend program meetings and provide briefings, meting reports, lessons learned and after action reports, identify and evaluate any potential weakness, and develop action plans to resolve current or future gaps in capabilities.
