SWP Contracting is looking for a Site Safety and Health Officer. You will be responsible for the overall on-site safety and ensure all sites meet all safety regulations of the project. As a Site Safety and Health Officer you will be responsible in a construction environment to ensure the projects are constructed in accordance with established minimum safety standards. This role provides direct oversight and review of the entire documentation and physical inspection phase of the workflow process. The Site Safety and Health Officer works and communicated directly with Project Managers, Subsidiary Safety Manger, Corporate Safety Director, Superintendents, etc. and external personnel.

Essential Functions:

Business Development:

  • Cultivate and maintain client relationships onsite
  • Support technical/cost proposal efforts
  • Support sales and marketing
  • Organize the job site so that it meets all safety regulations: USACE (EM385.11) or other government contractor requirements; OSHA, state and other regulatory agency regulations; installation requirements; and All Phases standards as outlined in the Work Plan and the Accident Prevention Plan (APP).
  • Certify that all equipment meets safety standards as outlined by the project work plan, OSHA regulations and USACE & other contracting agency regulations.
  • Coordinate with the site superintendent/QCM to create and maintain a culture of safety on the job site.
  • Job duties also entail enforcement of the approved Accident Prevention Plan, EM385-1-1, and all hazards and safety issues at the project site. Must be familiar with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Perform safety and occupational health management, surveillance, inspections and safety enforcement.
  • Enforcing and adherence to EM 385-1-1
  • Conduct safety related training as needed on site company
Required Qualifications:
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite, Scheduling software, and Abode.
  • Certificates, licenses and registrations required: Minimum- (OSHA 40 does not exist)hr. H; OSHA 8 hr.; OSHA 30 hr. Construction Safety; USACE/NAVFAC CQCM Training desired.

  • Delegation - Delegates work assignments; Matches the responsibility to the person; Sets expectations and monitors delegated activities; Provides recognition for results.
  • Cost Consciousness - Works within approved budget; Develops and implements cost saving measures.
  • Safety and Security All employees are responsible for observing safety and security procedures as applicable and reporting potentially unsafe conditions to management
Education/Certifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with more than eight years of related construction/environmental related safety experience and/or training.
  • Bachelors Degree in civil engineering, construction management, or safety related field of study preferred.
