BASIC FUNCTIONS: We are looking for a delivery-focused individual to lead our production support team. As the Engineering Lead, you will be committed to ensuring the right team, structures, and processes are in place to meet and exceed SLAs for LexisNexis customers. This is a business-critical role, in which you will be a leader to a group of experienced Architects, Developers, QA Engineers, and Business Analysts. The position has direct reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 7+ years of Software Engineering experience
  • BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
  • 7+ years of Software Engineering experience
  • BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required
  • Previous experience working in an agile, Kanban environment
  • Insurance experience is advantageous but not required
  • Exposure to Big Data technologies and AWS or Azure Cloud are preferred
  • Extensive experience in client-facing roles, excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to partner and lead internal and external technology resources in solving complex business needs.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical difficulties
  • Strong leadership skills, experience developing and managing self-directed, high performing teams
  • Ability to adapt to change and implement process improvements
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality and excellence
  • Strong skills in defining, communicating, implementing, and achieving business objectives and goals through the direct management of others
  • Strong organization/project planning, time management, and change management skills across multiple functional groups and departments, and strong delegation skills involving prioritizing and reprioritizing tasks and managing projects of various size and complexity
  • Strong problem-solving experience involving leading teams in identifying, researching, and coordinating the resources necessary to effectively troubleshoot/diagnose complex project issues; prior success translating findings into solutions; and identifying risks/impacts and schedule adjustments to facilitate management decision-making
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills. Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills applicable to a wide audience including senior and executive management
  • Ability to present information in a concise and effective manner to management, and various departments using various communication tools
  • Strong research skills

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of escalation for software development issues related to the MVR suite of products
  • Exhibit a strong sense of urgency for high severity incidents
  • Able to assess the customer impact, prioritize, identify root cause, and provide tactical and strategic solutions
  • Provide solutions and avoid recurring incidents
  • Resolve issues and remove obstacles that hinder the teams' work
  • Facilitate internal communication and effective collaboration
  • Interface with other engineering leads to prioritize and implement solutions
  • Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the LexisNexis policies and procedures including interviewing, hiring, and training employees.
  • Responsible for planning, assigning, prioritizing, and directing work
  • Ensure all team members are provided with the training and resources needed to perform their jobs to the most outstanding degree possible.
  • Ensure all team members are provided with frequent feedback and coaching to meet and exceed individual and team performance goals consistently.
  • Manage and encourage new ideas from the team to foster improvements through innovations
  • Review designs and specifications for the development of complex system components
  • All other duties as assigned

Technical Skills
  • Advanced knowledge of agile software development methodologies
  • Strong research skills
  • Ability to design and work with complex data models and numerous data sources
  • Understanding of development languages including but not limited to Java/J2EE, JavaScript, XML, JSON, SQL, Python, and UNIX
  • Ability to partner and lead internal and external technology resources in solving complex business needs
  • Ability to review detailed specifications for the development of complex system components.
  • Strong skills in defining, communicating, implementing, and achieving business objectives and goals through the direct management of others
  • Keep abreast of new technology developments
