Software Engineering Manager
We are looking for a Software Engineering Leader who gets excited about driving the development of how our leading abrasive waterjet machines move so our customers can make cool and incredible things. Is this you?

The leading manufacturer of Waterjet cutting solutions, OMAX, is looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join the engineering leadership team and contribute to the future of abrasive Waterjet tools at our 100% associate-owned, global leader in advanced cutting solutions and technologies. You will contribute to the development of industry-leading abrasive waterjet machining tools, including CAM and controls applications, 2D/3D CAD applications, camera and machine vision applications, machine simulation, diagnostic tools, data collection applications, and user interfaces.

In this role, you will have an impact through the following:
Leadership

  • Provide team direction and strategy. Create functional effectiveness by fostering a sense of team and enabling your engineers to do incredible things through clear direction, visionary leadership, and project leadership to ensure software projects meet project timelines.
  • Mentor team members' growth and career development as you help build organizational capability to meet strategic initiatives.
Strategy
  • Collaborate with senior leaders on software product vision and technical strategy.
  • Work to continuously improve software development processes, frameworks, team dynamics, and organizational value.
  • Collaborate with the multi-disciplined Engineering team to define and execute software development for new product releases.
Execution
  • Oversee the complete cycle of all OMAX software applications (new and legacy), including the development, design, architecture, testing, and maintenance of all OMAX software applications to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Lead software scoping, roadmap, and architecture discussions and develop and maintain a software roadmap and schedule.
  • Lead software team integration/collaboration efforts between OMAX and our parent company Hypertherm.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a similar technical discipline with experience managing software development teams.
  • Ability to mentor/train others and lead leaders.
  • Experience with application development in Windows environments
  • Experience with software development lifecycle management, defect tracking tools, and peer review
Preferred experience that differentiates you:
  • Experience with machine tools, tool pathing, robotics, or developing software to control machinery/hardware.
  • Understanding of Delphi programming language (maintenance of existing/legacy applications)
  • Project management experience
Location: Kent, Washington. Hybrid - The team works remotely two days per week.

Travel: Very limited
