Salary: $5,000 - $6,000 per 5 credit class

Olympic College enrolls a racially and socioeconomically diverse student body of approximately 10,500 students annually. A comprehensive community college, we offer instruction in Basic Studies to include awarding a high school diploma, GED preparation, and English to Speakers of Other Languages; academic transfer and workforce education degrees and certificates; four applied baccalaureate degrees, and community education in our two-county region.

Olympic College is recruiting for adjunct faculty to teach the Spanish Language on a continuous basis throughout the year - primarily for in-person instruction at the Bremerton and Shelton campuses. Part-Time faculty teach one to two classes in a quarter as enrollment demands. Faculty are required to provide quality teaching including related preparation, grading, and record keeping; class syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the division office as requested. SALARY:

Per Olympic College Board of Trustees approved salary schedule based on education and qualified experience.

Essential Functions

Teach college-level course(s) in accordance with college catalog, schedule of classes, course outlines, course syllabi, and any departmental guidelines;

Teach in-person classes on the Shelton campus and Bremerton campus as needed;

Provide quality teaching including related preparation and grading;

Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the division office as requested;

Maintain accurate records of students and complete forms as required;

May include evening instruction;

Punctual communication with students, faculty, and staff;

Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Spanish language and literature or related field

Near-native fluency

College teaching experience

Terms of Employment

Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment.

This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. The salary listed is a range based on per quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments including travel to clinical sites may be a part of the instructional load.
Adjunct positions at the college are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter-by-quarter basis. Individuals who apply to the applicant pool are considered active for a period of 12 months from the application date and may be contacted when vacancies occur. Applying does not guarantee that a position will be available or offered.
Adjuncts are not eligible for benefits upon their initial hire. Adjunct faculty must work 50 percent of a full-time load for two consecutive quarters to become eligible. Additional hours earned at other SBCTC colleges may count towards this requirement. Adjuncts are not initially eligible for benefits upon hire but could qualify for the following.

Working Conditions
This position requires punctual and regular attendance at the campus where assigned to teach. This position is in a typical office and/or classroom environment but may require the employee to move across campus to other buildings.
