Job Description

SUMMARY

Specialist I, Quality Control is responsible for the maintenance of the laboratory ISO 17025 accreditation and HSE responsibilities. This includes conducting and scheduling calibration of test equipment, corrective action reviews, internal quality audits, management reviews, regulatory audits, maintaining the approved vendor list, overseeing health and safety activities, proficiency testing, validations, and training records.

JOB FUNCTIONS

•Perform calibrations of particle counters used for filtration efficiency testing

•Prepare documentation for A2LA accreditation assessments including internal audits, management reviews, maintenance of proficiency and training records

•Perform equipment performance logs reviews, auxiliary log book reviews, stability study pull reviews, audit trail reviews, and metrology reviews

•Perform Corrective Action Reviews (CAR) for incidents that fail to meet customer requirements, follow published SOPs, lead to hazards, near-misses and incidents or other problems that occur on site

•Conduct random audits to ensure that all testing submitted by customers is completed within established parameters governing Company quality and regulatory compliance specifications

•Conduct regulatory audits and update Quality Management System and Standard Operating Procedures to ensure full compliance with ISO 17025

•Play a role in Departmental or company-wide projects designed to improve the internal efficiency and overall quality of work performed at the laboratory

•Participate in creating and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork throughout the laboratory

•Maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of the review process

•Maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of ISO requirements as these pertain to work performed in the laboratory

•May be invited to participate in the preparation and review process for appropriate department SOPs, worksheets, and data forms

•Participation in general staff training sessions as is scheduled

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

•Associate Degree in Science based major or equivalent

Required

•Thorough knowledge of scientific principles

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

•Familiarity with all of the laboratory techniques and equipment applicable to the tasks performed in the laboratory

•Excellent language and communication skills are required

•Must be able to clearly communicate responsibilities of solid documentation needs on a daily basis

•Good listening skills are essential

•Must be able to work with a diverse group of individuals

•Must have a solid grasp of the fundamentals and importance of teamwork in the contemporary business world

•Must be able to think analytically
