Summary

Reporting to the VP, System Transformation, the Sr. Consultant Transformation works directly with internal clients on complex, enterprise-wide initiatives aimed at developing greater "systemness" across MGB - i.e., working effectively as a single integrated system - and implementing the MGB strategy. This highly visible role partners closely with stakeholders in Strategy, Operations, Human Resources, Communications, and other key departments to effectively enable and advance the transformation plan across the enterprise.

The role requires an understanding of organizational consulting frameworks, transformation principles and change management practices. The Sr. Consultant serves as a trusted subject matter resource for leaders throughout the MGB system, advising on transformation-related issues as well as designing and facilitating transformation-enabling interventions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Contribute to development of and help implement specific organization transformation plans, addressing issues of organization structure, process, behavior, and mindset.

In conjunction with Strategy Implementation and System Transformation (SIST) team members, spot, diagnose and work with leaders to develop solutions to ensure MGB system effectiveness.

Help develop and implement mechanisms to improve cross-system collaboration, conflict management, decision-making, etc.

Closely collaborate with Strategy, HR, Communications, Operations and other key functions to shape, implement and coordinate efforts around the system transformation plan; help to support specific strategic initiatives and organizational change efforts these other functions are leading; and partner with them to develop the required mindset and skill across the system to successfully lead change.

Closely work with Strategy and Internal Communications to develop and implement communication plans and activities that support strategy implementation and transformation efforts.

Monitor, and help leaders take corrective action around, transformation progress.

Drive continuous learning around what gets in the way of and what enables system collaboration.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No direct reports; will build and manage cross-organization and cross-functional project teams, utilizing resources and expertise from across the enterprise; will direct project managers, program managers and analysts within the Strategy and Transformation department as part of enterprise-wide transformation initiatives. At times, works with outside consultants and consulting teams.

Fiscal Responsibility:

Responsible for managing project budget as required by leadership

Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by effectively using Mass General Brigham resources

Working Conditions:

  • Local travel to Mass General Brigham sites
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk; or hear; use hands to finger; handle; or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop; kneel; or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception.

Qualifications
Qualifications
  • Must have 5 to 7 years+ of organizational change management, enterprise transformation and/or strategy implementation experience, in large organizations.
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in Business, Healthcare, Organizational Development or Psychology, or related field preferred.
  • Consulting experience, either internal or external, is strongly preferred
  • Healthcare experience is a plus, but not required.

  • Strong understanding and expertise in organizational design, change management, and culture
  • Ability to influence others at all levels and move toward a common goal and definition of success by leveraging best practices for co-creation and leadership engagement alignment.
  • Familiarity with agile and enterprise design thinking methodologies

  • Exceptional communications skills including strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; ability to tailor messages for a variety of audiences
