Job DetailsJob Location Oglethorpe University - Atlanta, GAPosition Type Full-Time StaffEducation Level Bachelor's The Senior Director of Constituent Engagement reports to the Vice President for Advancement and is responsible for planning, implementing and managing all constituent relations as well as designing, implementing, and overseeing effective programs for Annual Giving, Alumni Relations, Donor Relations, and Philanthropic Communications. The Senior Director serves a critical role as ambassador for the University, building strong and sustained relationships with all constituent groups and engaging them in meaningful ways in the life of the University. This individual will develop, prioritize, and grow engagement initiatives; design and implement systems for facilitating a constituent-centric experience; and direct staff as necessary to accomplish goals in the areas under their supervision. This position is critical to creating, sustaining, strengthening, and shaping Oglethorpes constituency partnerships. The Senior Director sits on the VPs leadership team, working collaboratively to advance the goals of the Office of Advancement. The Director will supervise 4-5 staff and be responsible for the effective conceptualization and implementation of all the programs under their direction.The Senior Director will be a proven leader who values traditions, collaboration, innovation, and creativity, and is well versed in current relationship-driven fundraising and alumni engagement strategies and tactics. Successful candidates will bring significant experience in a management role in a constituent engagement and possess an authentic commitment to a liberal arts education and the capacity to articulate passionately its value and relevance. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees all constituent engagement activities, including alumni relations, annual giving, donor relations and stewardship, and philanthropic communications.
  • Foster lasting relationships between the University and its constituents and establish a structured, systematic program of engagement opportunities that will ensure ongoing, meaningful relations with donors, alumni, students, parents, friends, and volunteers.
  • Manage a robust portfolio of alumni, parents, and volunteers and engage them in meaningful activity and giving programs.
  • Support and promote constituents active participation in University events and activities.
  • Establishes individual and team metrics and goals for the Annual Giving Program, Alumni Relations, Donor Relations and Stewardship, and Philanthropic Communications programs; ensures progress toward goals via consistent staff check-ins, reporting, and support; and provides progress reports to the Vice President for Advancement.
  • Assess and set engagement metrics in collaboration with the Vice President for Advancement that measures increased affinity between constituent groups and the University and provide periodic metric reports to the Vice President for Advancement.
  • Develop and manage volunteer engagement programs that identify, engage, and cultivate strong volunteer relationships with the University that may lead to candidates for membership in the Board of Trustees, Presidents Advisory Council, and/or major gift donors to the University.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Director for Advancement and the Vice President for Advancement, contribute to and drive plans for strengthening alumni giving participation and revenue generation for the University.
  • Develop and implement a student ambassador and/or philanthropy program in coordination with Campus Life student engagement efforts.
  • Develop and implement a parent philanthropy program in coordination with other parent programming campus wide.
  • Creates and cultivates a work environment that celebrates diversity and promotes equity and inclusion.
  • Build and oversee a Philanthropic Communications program to meet the Advancement needs of the University.
  • Completes administrative work related to the budget, performance reviews, engagement plans, and benchmarking performance metrics.
  • Works collaboratively with other members of the Advancement team for strategic planning and advancing the goals of the division.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Vice President for Advancement.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Oglethorpe in the community.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors degree and 7-10 years of experience in development and fundraising, with five years of experience in constituent engagement
  • Effective and successful track record working with donors, board members, senior staff, and constituent groups
  • Higher education experience preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS
  • Desire to build personal relationships on behalf of Oglethorpe and with the objective of raising funds to support the organization.
  • Management experience with a history of achievement in engagement and fundraising. Desire to build and motivate a team to effectively build, promote, and engage others.
  • Strategic thinker and self-starter who is results-oriented. Experience leading strategy development as well as implementation of fundraising programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; strongly developed written and oral presentation skills.
  • Desire to represent Oglethorpe out in the community, attending events and other social gatherings, building personal relationships on behalf of Oglethorpe and with the objective of raising awareness and funds for the institution.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion, especially in the efforts to successfully recruit, develop, and retain top-tier talent.
  • Appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of many social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • The skill to advocate for the mission and priorities of the institution and Division.
  • Positive attitude and professional, donor-facing demeanor.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to respect confidential information and deliver the highest level of constituent engagement and response.
  • Experience using Raisers Edge or similar development database programs.
  • Technologically savvy and adept at using Microsoft Office, Raisers Edge, and other software tools.
