We are in an exciting stage of evolution as the rules of the retail industry are changing rapidly. We must deliver tangible value to our global company in every stage of our product lifecycle. The Gap Inc Product Management organization will do this through the relentless pursuit of great software experiences while considering operating advantage and positive community impact. The work impacts millions of customers worldwide that love our iconic brands of Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, and Athleta. At Gap Inc, almost all our applications are homegrown, and we, therefore, collaborate in the full ideation and development of our capabilities from Supply Chain, Reporting, and Internal Operations, to our Website, Fulfillment, and Customer Experience. As a Senior Product Manager, you will help define the product roadmap by working with your product management counterparts and leaders to identify and drive forward new capabilities. You will collaborate with dependent product teams to ensure that the end to end implementation journey is thorough and thoughtful. You will write robust requirements, prioritize the backlog across different features and apps, and work closely with the engineering teams to deliver and test quality software.

You will collaborate with cross-functional partners to create a best-in-class mobile app customer experience across the brand portfolio to help power a $16 B Fortune 500 apparel retailer. You will have the opportunity to make an impact as you define, communicate, and differentiate mobile app strategies and execution, e.g. business case, competitive analysis, device and OS landscape, evolving feature set priorities, and future state concepts. You will also help shape the future by partnering cross-functionally to define and lead Proof of Concept (PoC) and Proof of Technology (PoT) efforts, generate and foster native mobile innovation ideas, lead product development R&D discovery, and research new ideas with/from partners.

The role requires a strong product mindset; a combination of business savvy, customer centricity, and technical knowledge. We are looking for experienced product managers that have an inquisitive nature and want to solve complex business and customer problems without boundaries.

You will apply the full range of your demonstrated mobile app product management experience with high-profile, high volume, customer-facing mobile applications to help drive product strategy, development, operations, and execution for a best-in-class customer experience across the Gap, Inc. portfolio of mobile shopping apps: Athleta, Old Navy, Banana Republic, and Gap. You will also be the product owner in tactical product delivery execution, launching and enhancing features to evolve the core shopping experience and deepen relationships with customers for eCommerce mobile apps.

What you'll do

  • Responsible for multiple product development lifecycles and prioritizes across broad initiatives with complex scope; conducts analysis to measure the results of feature deployments to quantify the business benefit/impact, and identify further business opportunities.
  • Identifies new opportunities and develops technology solutions that drive value for Gap Inc., including analyzing competitors and market trends and evaluating new technologies and finding a vendor that supports the future vision.
  • Builds trust, establishes rapport, with stakeholders, cross-functional teams and user base; helps mentor and provide guidance to other passionate product managers in the team.
  • Manages multi-phase roadmaps across many capabilities, both functional and technical.
  • Anticipates user needs and desired outcomes and articulates impact across products; ensures strong measurement and quantitative understanding of services - opportunities, benefits achieved, customer pain points.
  • Articulates mobile app channel product needs clearly and succinctly to different audiences and cross-functional partners.

Who you are

  • 6+ years of experience supporting the development of strategy, roadmaps, and business cases for internet, eCommerce, or mobile-based product/service features or functionality; 3+ years of hands-on product management with a downloadable native or hybrid (native and web view combo) mobile app available in a mobile app store.
  • End-to-end mobile app product or mobile channel management experience as a product owner, from discovery through execution, concept to launch, for a mobile app, feature, or redesign.
  • Demonstrated experience in a product management role to release mobile app features and/or functionality that leverage one or more native mobile device capabilities, e.g. camera, voice, enhanced authentication, location services, contacts, touch, near field communication (NFC), push notifications, mobile wallet, etc.
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in the mobile app ecosystem, e.g. 3rd party mobile app stores, mobile application vendor SDK integrations, APIs, devices, platforms, operating systems, networks, wireless carriers, security, mobile payments, etc.
  • Demonstrated mobile app product development experience for mobile devices, leveraging native device capabilities to create innovative new mobile-unique feature opportunities to address customer needs and deliver business value.
  • Demonstrated technical acumen; ability to influence and debate solutions with technical team members, to understand technology solutions and potential tradeoffs and to represent technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • BA/BS with emphasis on quantitative skills such as in economics, business, mathematics, engineering; MBA or Masters in a related field is a bonus.
