SUMMARY:

The Payroll Tax Analyst / Sr. Payroll Tax Analyst will act on MAHLEs' behalf to process and ensure compliance of all statutory payroll taxes: Federal, state, and local. Additionally, this role will provide support to benefits colleagues with annual auditing and reporting for, but not limited to, the MAHLE Pension Plan

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll taxes in compliance with company policy and federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Reconcile payroll taxes by payroll period, and on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Maintain tax account listing by employer identification number (EIN) with all tax authorities (federal, state and local). Creation and registration of new EIN accounts as needed.
  • Keep abreast of changes to tax rates and legislation to ensure appropriate updates are made in the payroll system. Work closely with IT colleagues to ensure that system changes are made and tested in a timely manner.
  • Assist payroll and human resources colleagues with questions and problem resolution to ensure proper taxation occurs in the payroll process.
  • Responsible for year-end duties in preparation of employee W-2 forms including extensive analysis of the tax data, and submission of the annual Form 940 by EIN. Assist with creating and preparing W-2Cs, as needed.
  • Provide support for multiple annual audit activities, both internal and external.
  • Monitor and respond to queries from team email box.
  • Provide support and training as needed to new payroll employees.
  • Create and generate standard and custom reports as requested to meet the needs of the organization.
  • All other duties and projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university preferred, or equivalent related experience
  • Ability to identify and solve problems, to work within deadlines with a high attention to detail, and to work independently in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to influence and develop strong working relationships with all levels of employees, including human resources colleagues and senior level management and/or executives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation delivery
  • Must have broad, basic understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Advanced computer skills, especially in MS Office, particularly Excel
  • HRIS experience is required, SAP experience preferred
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and qualitative skills
  • Payroll systems experience required, SAP experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local municipality payroll tax
  • Functional payroll certification (FPC) desired
