General Description:The SSA Support Assistant provides comprehensive clerical support to the Office of Student Success Advising by performing a variety of direct-student services, information dissemination, and other support duties to facilitate the academic advising of students at Oklahoma City Community College.

Minimum Education/Experience:Successful completion of some college level coursework.
One-year previous clerical experience involving public contact.
Strong ability to communicate in a positive manner, both orally and in writing, with a diverse group of people.
Must be a self-starter and be able to make decisions with limited supervision.
Ability to work afternoon and evening hours.
Ability to use a variety of technology tools, as well as the ability to type accurately.
Skill in organizing resources.
Ability to handle multiple demands.
Ability to direct the flow of a large number of students and phone calls.
1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, faculty, staff, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position requires the person to frequently move about the Academic Advising department to assist students and perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and/or stationary position.
This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer and other office equipment to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of hands, wrists, and/or fingers.
3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
4. WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position performs the essential functions in an indoor office setting.
Work experience in the college setting.
Previous experience directing calls on a multiple-line phone system.
Associate's Degree.
Monday - Thursday 12pm-6pm
Friday - 11am-5pm
Must be flexible. We will work with school schedules as much as possible.
Possible 2 Saturdays per year.

Greet, screen, and assist students as required at the Triage desk or on the telephone, and to assist students seeking academic advising and career advising.
Provide support in helping students with schedules, enrollment, accessing MineOnline, Career Assessment Inventories and other student resources.
Communicate complete and concise information about the College to new and continuing students, both in person and by telephone.
Maintain confidentiality of student information. Assist with document management of student information.
Inform professional staff immediately of delays, problems, and concerns related to student/customer services.
Perform closing procedures including: communicating with and assisting students with closing times and appointment options; locking files; forwarding telephones; ensuring the proper message is on the voice mail system; shutting down computers; and storing confidential materials.
Assist in the maintenance and updating of information and resources for the check-in desk and Student Success Assistant positions.
Aid the Assistant Director with outreach efforts and other related projects as assigned.
Assist with student workshops and other events related to Academic Advising services.
Assist in creating and disbursing flyers and posters for the promotion of activities and events.
Schedule appointments, maintain electronic filing system, type correspondence.
Assist with Website maintenance.
Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures
Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.
Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.
Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC's established safety and health procedures and practices.
Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation and shelter in place drills and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur
