This position requires that candidates provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination after receiving a conditional job offer at least 7 days prior to their start date. "Fully vaccinated" means that at least two weeks have passed since you received 1) your second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or 2) one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

The Staff Accountant performs the billing and fiscal monitoring of government contracts and assists with administrative operations of the Grants and Contracts department. The Accountant supports and works closely with the Workforce and Career Development Department, ensures expenditures are in compliance with grant budgets and requirements, handles cost allocations, supervises Grants and Contracts account payables functions, and is involved with all outside fiscal audits related to programs including the A-133 single audit. Per government requirements, this role required to be fully COVID- 19 vaccinated.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for timely reporting for all internal and external entities related to grants and contracts including regulatory reports and filings to the various federal government and state agencies; financial reporting to grantors - monthly, quarterly, annually or as needed.
  • Assists with developing organization's procedures and policies regarding the administration of grants and contracts. Handles cost allocations, account receivables, general accounting entries, supervises accounts payable function, and reviews billed expenditures to ensure compliance with GAAP accounting, OMB Circulars A-110, A-122 and A-133, FAR regulations and any other applicable statutes.
  • Establishes and maintains effective and productive working relationships with staff from other departments within and outside the organization. Clearly and efficiently communicates valuable information to customers.
  • Involved with the Single Audit (A-133) as well as any other outside fiscal reviews related to grants and contracts. Effective and efficiently helps resolve any issues discovered during the course of the audits.
  • Performs periodic internal audits, and reports results directly to the Accounting Manager - Grants & Contracts.
  • Assumes some duties from Accounting Manager - Grants & Contracts in his/her absence.
  • Education & Experience
    • 2 years of Accounting, preferably with Grants & Contracts experience.
    • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.
    • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferred.
    • Advanced knowledge proficiency of computer programs in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel, and E-mail.
    • Accounting software experience required. MS Access, Explorer required; Financial Edge recommended.
    • Possesses a valid driver's license and state-required auto insurance.
    • Ability to handle confidential information.
    • Ability to work without supervision.
    • Non-profit experience preferred.
    • Detail oriented, strong interpersonal skills.
