About the role
Uber Freight is looking for a Product Designer with a passion for building products and tools that are powering a revolution in the freight and logistics industry. You will research and create tools used by Fortune 500 shippers, our internal Uber Freight operations team, and carriers. We are looking for someone who loves to design anything from a live-updating table of data to an informative data visualization, all while doing the research to make the informed choices behind them. Help us build a brand new business by applying creativity and critical thinking to solve exciting and challenging problems.

What you'll do

• Build wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs based on our UI framework to tackle difficult UX problems.
• Lead and oversee experience design projects and programs that influence positive change/impact across one more adjacent product teams.
• Contribute to strategic decisions around the future direction of Uber Freight products.
• Facilitate design workshops, critiques, and co-creation sessions to improve design quality, product decisions, and speed of execution.
• Mentor the work of other designers on projects and be sought out by adjacent teams for your obsession with quality and domain expertise.

Basic qualifications

• A portfolio showing your high quality, thoughtful UI and UX work.

Preferred qualifications

• 7+ years of design experience
• A degree in HCI, Graphic Design, or related fields is preferred.
• Work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire.
• Strategic product thinker with the ability to understand product goals, identify opportunities, and make decisions based on the impact to people and the company.
• Interaction design experience with ability to define how an experience should behave based on understanding people's needs.
• Ability to use prototyping skills to demonstrate how a particular flow or interaction will work.
• Visual design skills with proficiency in typography, desktop/mobile UI, color, layout, iconography and aesthetic sense.
