The Staff Scientist is responsible for early development of in vitro diagnostic (IVD) assays and/or product development in an FDA-QSR and ISO13485 compliant organization. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of assay development including design of nucleic acid isolation methods from different sample types, design of highly multiplexed, real-time PCR and RT-PCR assays.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Evaluate and develop new sample preparation procedures and assay prototypes.
  • Design real-time PCR primers and probes, and optimize real-time PCR using Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Actively participate in experimental design, data analysis using statistical tools such as Microsoft Excel, Minitab or JMP, and data presentation at internal technical meetings.
  • Design and execute verification test plans to demonstrate that products meet design input requirements.
  • Maintain detailed experimental records, and document results in laboratory notebooks and technical reports.

The essential requirements of the job include

  • Bachelor's degree with 9+ years of industry experience, preferably in Medical devices of IVD diagnostics, OR Master's degree in field with 7+ years of industry experience, preferably in Medical devices of IVD diagnostics, OR Doctoral degree in field with 3+ years of industry experience, preferably in Medical devices of IVD diagnostics.
  • Experience with IVD diagnostics product development/design control.
  • Flexibility to work independently or as a team, and solve complex problems including optimization of multiplexed real-time PCR assays, development of new assays and/or test methods/procedures.
  • Knowledge in handling clinical samples and ability to work in a BSL-2 environment. Knowledge of biological and chemical safety.
  • Being vaccinated against the Hepatitis B virus, or for unvaccinated candidates, agreeing to be vaccinated.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience working with microorganisms involved in infectious diseases.
