Job Summary

Under the direction of the central supply supervisor, cleans, inspects, and assembles equipment and supplies. Provides units/departments with clean, sterile supplies. Employs aseptic technique in preparing and handling sterile supplies. Maintains instrument trays and linen packs.

Responsiblities include but not limited to: Decontamination and sterilization of surgical instrumentation. Inspection of instrumentation prior final sterilization. Maintains propery inventory levels. Fills orders for supplies and equipment; takes orders accurately and professionally, fills orders promptly. Adheres to established departmental safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Assembles and wraps various packs and instrument sets correctly following established guidelines.

Hours: 7am-3:30pm weekend call rotation/3pm-11:30pm weekend Call rotation

Qualifications

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma - OR - GED - OR - Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education
• Must successfully pass a nationally accredited central service exam
• Must hold either a certified registered central service technician credential or a certified sterile processing and distribution technician credential
• Central service technicians, specifically, must annually complete 10 hours of continuing education
• Technicians will have 18 months from date of hire to comply with the certification requirements.

Experience:

• At least 1 year of experience in Sterile Processing preferred
