Title: Student Success Advisor, North Davidson Campus (Grant Funded)

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for tracking and assisting students by providing holistic services from pre-enrollment to completion by connecting students with internal and external resources, providing wraparound services and high-touch advising, leading to persistence in college and graduation. This position will work with MNPS graduating high school seniors in the New Skills Ready High Schools, Maplewood, Overton, Pearl Cohn and Whites Creek High Schools, and other first-generation MNPS students matriculating to Nashville State who are majoring in an IT related field.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Build relationships with students to achieve their identified goals and objects. Assist to align goals to career pathways that will lead to credentials with labor market value. Review student progress and track student use of academic support services to support postsecondary success. Work closely with students to identify potential roadblocks and connect students to support and resources, supporting academic progress, and persistence leading to graduation. Work with Nashville State faculty and staff and MNPS faculty to identify and resolve barriers to student success.

Maintain accurate tracking data and notes for each assigned student, recommending appropriate referrals and opportunity programs. Ensure equitable participation and achievement in high-quality IT pathways leading to high-demand, high wage careers, in order to address and close equity gaps. Support annual recruitment of new students. Create and conduct training sessions/workshops for students, faculty and staff that support success both in and outside of the classroom. Assist with a developing and implementing a variety of institutional retention activities. Participate in new student orientation and first year experience activities. Utilize an SIS student records system and be able to function within a computerized office environment. Work closely with MNPS College and Career coaches to build systems to ensure seamless and successful transitions from MNPS to NSCC.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

Two years' experience working in a college environment with a racially and ethnically diverse student body providing direct services to students

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree from an accredited institution

Community college experience

Documented knowledge of IT field (coursework, job experience, etc)

Experience career and college counseling with diverse populations

Bilingual fluency in English and Arabic or Spanish is highly preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to manage a caseload system of advising. Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to make recommendations and set goals. Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously. Demonstrated leadership ability. Strong initiative and ability to work effectively in groups and independently.

Rate of Pay: $41,360 to $51,700 annually, depending on experience
