Shearman & Sterling's Menlo Park office is now accepting applications for our 2023 Summer Program.
Program Length : 10 weeks
How is work assigned? The majority of work is assigned through senior and associate mentors.
What opportunities for mentorship are available ? During each rotation, summer associates are paired with a senior mentor (either a partner or counsel) and an associate mentor. Mentors are responsible for providing work to summer associates and helping them integrate into the firm.
What opportunities for professional development are available? The Professional Development team coordinates programs as part of Summer Associate University (SAU). Topics include Writing, Negotiations, Professionalism, Research, D&I, Wellness, and more.
Are there opportunities to split between offices? In past years, our Hong Kong, London, São Paulo, Tokyo, and Toronto offices have hosted split summers. Language requirements vary by office and splits are dependent on business needs.
Hiring Criteria
Required: We are looking for strong academic performance, law school involvement, and an enthusiasm about the practice of law. We also remain strongly committed to diversity and inclusion and expect that our associates will view collegiality and teamwork as important personal and firm values. Only JD 2024 law students are eligible to apply.
Preferred: Relevant work experience; law journal/moot court participation; foreign language skills.
