The Formulation Supervisor is responsible for the running of an efficient department that consistently meets the daily manufacturing schedule while maintaining full adherence to all quality and safety standard set by Akorn.

  • Monitor the manufacturing processes from start to finish to ensure full conformance to manufacturing instructions outlined in Master Batch Records.
  • Provide effective training to all employees on the shift so that they fully understand the manufacturing processes and cleaning procedures in the compounding department.
  • Review executed batch records, logbooks and other process related documents for accuracy and completeness following ALCOA+ principal.
  • Provide leadership to Formulation Team Members on 3 shifts and hold them accountable for adherence to SOPs, Batch Records and other cGMP practices and procedures in the department.
  • Promote a safe work environment.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide feedback in a timely manner on steps necessary for improvement with positive expectations for improved future performance. Provide the tools necessary for employees to meet department standard. Provide honest appraisal of employee performance during yearly review.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the department is cGMP compliant at all times.
  • Assist in deviation and nonconformance investigations in the compounding department.
  • Improve efficiencies within the compounding department by ensuring effective utilization of available labor.
  • Maintain open communication with employees
  • Identify areas in the department that need improvement and work with department leadership to facilitate improvements.
  • Perform JDE requisitions.
  • Be pro-active by collaborating with department team members to ensure that the batches on the daily schedule are weighed and all required raw materials are available.


Qualifications
  • Minimum of BS Engineering or Science degree (Chemistry) preferred.
  • Preferred pharmaceutical manufacturing experience in liquid formulation.
  • Preferred pharmaceutical formulation process management and formulation development experience
