Now hiring Workforce Initiative Supervisor at Abraxas Academy in Morgantown, PA 

$60K/Annually plus $3,000 SIGN ON BONUS 

Abraxas Youth & Family Services, a non-profit company, is a national leader in the operation of residential treatment facilities and community-based programs for troubled youth and their families. 

Summary: 

This position oversees the overall development, organization, implementation, and operation of the agency’s youth work program.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists in developing career, technical education and work experience programs for youth in conjunction with the agency’s maintenance supervisor, school, and management team.
  • Develops and maintains a meaningful relationship with Pennsylvania Academic and Career/Technical Training Alliance (PACT).
  • Pursues and coordinates workforce grants that allow clients to pay restitution, court costs, and fines.
  • Develops and manages planning, oversight and supervision of youth in the Career & Technical Education program.
  • Initiates, guides, and ensures communication and coordination between the school, Career & Technical Education program, and clinical and business staff within the agency to ensure youth needs are integrated with the treatment and educational processes, while also meeting youths’ Career & Technical Education requirements to fulfill restitution, court costs and fine obligations.
  • Ensures communication and coordination between the schools, youth home school districts, licensing agencies, and funding sources.
  • Coordinates, implements, and oversees career and technical education and work experiences.
  • Ensures effective oversight and supervision of youth in the conduct of work programming.
  • Ensures compliance with all work rules and labor laws for agency youth.
  • Collects and reports data on the agency’s youth work program for student job portfolios and court reports.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to support the operation of the youth work program and community.
  • Develops and implements educational programs and groups to educate youth and staff regarding the purpose and policies of the youth work program.
  • Works closely with clinical supervisors, caseworkers, and the agency business manager to ensure that all youth involved in work program fulfill restitution, and court costs and fines obligations.
  • Tracks and reports youth work hours as required.
  • Assesses student portfolios and their successful completion and presentation in the dorms.
  • Schedules staff.
  • Participates in developing effective team, directs and supports employees and co-workers, and provides feedback and mentoring.
  • Plans, organizes and facilitates staff meetings, coordinates workflow and communicates action plans consistently with employees.
  • Role models and teaches effective supervision and management of clients, interacts meaningfully with clients, and observes client behavior and intervenes appropriately.
  • Ensures effective people security including headcounts, room checks, and client movements.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information as it relates to client information.
  • Implements and mentors employees regarding Abraxas policies on professional expectations, code of conduct and other practices and procedures, serves as a role model for clients and employees, and supports the company’s mission, goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for effective use of resources within budgetary limitations.
  • Ensures the safety and security of clients and facility.
  • Ensures implementation of Environment of Care program and infection control practices.
  • Teaches and demonstrates leadership during emergency procedures.
  • Addresses client grievances as appropriate. .
  • Supervises the teaching and support of clients in the Work Force Development Programs, as well as additional staff members of the Career & Technical Education and Workforce Development teams.
  • Supports the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promotes the Seven Key Principles of care.
  • Demonstrates appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management techniques and skills.

Minimum Requirements: 

The following educational requirements are acceptable for this classification including:

  • Associate’s degree or sixty (60) credits from an accredited college or university, plus four (4) years of related experience; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree or one hundred twenty (120) credits from an accredited college or university, plus two (2) years of related experience; OR
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university, plus one (1) year of related experience.

Other Qualifications:

  • At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Criminal clearances (Act 33 and 34, specific State & child clearances and, if necessary, FBI).
  • Non-communicable diseases physical exam.
  • Valid driver's license from employee’s state of residence.
  • Valid registered vehicle insurance.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
