Job Summary:

Support staff provide direct services to adults at the residence by assisting persons served in meeting their individual goals during their admission.Support staff are responsible for enforcing the policies and procedures of the program, helping maintain a safe environment for the person served, and providing support in the framework of recovery from substance use and co-occurring disorders. Support staff contributes to Bay Cove's mission by partnering with person served to work towards their goals in order to achieve greater independence and improved quality of life. This is a non-exempt position.

•None

Essential Functions of Position:

•Incorporates person centered and evidence based practices and philosophies into engagement strategies and treatment plan interventions based on each person served assessed readiness and expressed interest towards long-term recovery.

•Utilize recovery-oriented language and principles in all communication and interactions with persons served, colleagues, and collaterals

•Ensure the safety of all persons served by proactively addressing escalating behaviors, by providing supervision and by conducting and documenting checks.

•Assist with completing documentation, faxing, and following up with referrals to providers, programs, and other levels of care including scheduling aftercare appointments with outpatient providers.

•Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the program, in meal preparation and cleanup, and in completing room set up as needed.

•Respond appropriately to any emergency situation. Contact on-call staff when necessary.

•Observe and document medications being taken by person served who are under the care of the program. Securely storing all individual's medication in locked boxes and a locked cabinet this also includes any and all refills, surplus or oversized resident owned medications.

•Responsible for maintaining an accurate record of medications which remain in the possession of the resident (self carry), such as rescue inhalers, lotion, shampoos, epipens.

•Communicate with providers and prescribers when a new medication is introduced, when there is a change in dosage or instruction of current medications and update medications sheets to reflect these changes. Report all changes and updates to the clinical team.

•Responsible for maintaining and working with providers, prescribers, pharmacies and residents to plan a timely medication refill schedule.

•Responsible for listing, counting and packing all the residents medications upon planned discharges.

•Maintain accurate documentation of all medications stored and disposed

•Accurate documentation of all medications on medication administration records/medication sheets

•Accurate counting of all medications

•Report medication misuse concerns to assigned case manager or Program Director

•Report serious medication events and errors to the Program Director or Senior Program Director and filing an incident report as directed

•Collaborate with the team to create a medication support plan or behavioral contract for poor medication adherence

•Conduct urine drug screens and alcohol breathalyzer collection and document and report all outcomes to the team.

•Performs all other duties and projects as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements for the Position:

•High School Diploma or GED

•Knowledge of modality specific issues, such as substance abuse or homelessness.

•Flexibility to work weekends on a scheduled or as-needed basis.

•Proficient writing and verbal communications skills.

•Excellent personal organization, attention to detail, and time management skills.

•Proficiency in word processing and other computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Email and Apps.

•Ability to go up and down stairs, lift up to 20 pounds and to physical capacity to assist people with mobility impairments as needed.
