Summary: Job Profile Summary
Performs under the direction and supervision of a licensed healthcare professional. Assists the surgical team in the preoperative and perioperative phases of patient care in the operating room; possesses the skills and knowledge to identify and collect all necessary equipment, instruments and supplies for a wide variety of surgical procedures; assists in the preparation of the surgical suite; identifies plans for and implements instrumentation for select surgical procedures; performs as assistant to the surgeon during surgical procedures; ensures sterile and aseptic technique are maintained within the surgical environment; enhances own professional growth and development through attendance at in-services, staff meetings and professional education programs.

Salary range for this position is $58,491-$66,336 annually which includes a comprehensive benefit package.

Qualifications:Required Education and Experience

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

Education and Experience
1. Associate's degree in surgical technology with graduation from an accredited OR Technician Program and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time experience as a surgical technologist in an academic medical center of which two (2) years must be in a specialized oncology hospital; or
2. Two (2) years of OR Technician or related experience gained through military service and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time experience as a surgical technologist in an academic medical center of which two (2) years must be in a specialized oncology hospital.

NOTE:
1. Incumbents must obtain and maintain Certified Surgical Technologist (CST); administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization, or other comparable certification program recognized by Roswell Park Cancer Institute as appropriate for this title.
2. Incumbents must complete fifteen (15) hours of approved continuing education annually to remain qualified to practice as a surgical technologist.
3. Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
