Wood is currently recruiting for Survey Technicians to join our team in Ville Platte, LA. We offer outstanding benefits, good pay, and career opportunities.

Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required.

Assist the Survey Crew Chief in all operations of data collection for field surveying of terrain and physical identification of facilities. Individual will be trained on use of Trimble Global Positioning Systems and associated equipment that is used in field surveying. Perform office functions including computations, reduction of field notes, filing and retrieving prints, and running prints. Work will be 95% field and 5%office.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Provide assistance to Survey Crew Chief by applying sound technical skills and knowledge of surveying in broad areas of assignment
  • Gather information for survey, topographical mapping, cross-sections, horizontal and vertical control, location of right of way, and utility/facility locations to be used in preparation of engineering documents
  • Perform topographic surveys
  • Conduct survey tasks; ie: drive stakes, hold rod
  • Locate section corners
  • Use survey computer software such as CAD or other to transfer field information into drawings
  • Maintain equipment associated with operations
  • Perform office functions including computations, reduction of field notes, filing and retrieving prints, and running prints
  • Position will require driving 4-wheel drive truck, pulling trailer, and operation of rural terrain vehicle in all weather conditions.
