Job Description

Our team is looking for an upbeat and creative Systems Engineer(SE) to join our Energy Load Management team! This individual will apply system engineering methods during the creation, development and verification/validation of the Energy Load Management System. This Systems Engineer will ensure that the energy power generation systems on General Motors vehicles are appropriately sized and can meet the vehicle energy power consumption needs. This effort includes working towards more efficient usage of electrical power in the future, leveraging/developing appropriate algorithms and strategies to appropriately balance the vehicle's energy consumption.

System Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Lead the program-specific Energy Management workgroup meeting(s) to track and verify Energy Management strategies.
  • Set availability targets, allocate to the subsystems and components, determine feature sensitivity to variation and failure modes, and determine mitigation plans to improve performance to targets.
  • Collaborate in the development and release of System Technical Specification for the Energy Load Management System.
  • Ensure system requirements meet Safety requirements.
  • Work with the vehicle platform team to assure that correct system characteristics and capabilities are defined for the intended purpose of the vehicle.
  • Create System DFMEA and participate in Fault Tree Analysis.

Additional Job Description
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering or a related engineering degree
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-graduation engineering experience
  • Experience with electrical systems
  • Ability to analyze technically complex problems and translate them into executable solutions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment under minimal direction
  • Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to operate test vehicles

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5 years of post-graduation engineering experience
  • Experience in vehicle electrical system development/integration (High Voltage & Low Voltage)
  • In-depth knowledge of Systems Engineering methods and tools
  • Understanding of vehicle control systems and serial data communications
  • Understanding of system reliability, safety, monitoring, and diagnostic technologies and processes
  • Understanding of embedded software development, testing and associated tools
