Systems Engineer, Systems Programming supports and maintains enterprise and in-house databases for critical business and clinical applications in a 24 hour a day healthcare environment with shared on-call responsibilities. Designs and maintains custom software for database administration and developer utilities. The primary customers of the systems programming group and most interactions are with other staff in the ITS Server and Storage department and Tech Innovation department. The objectives are to maintain the ERP database platform to MGB best practices standards, improve manageability and supportability of system software and reduce downtime of the ERP and in-house application platforms.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Install application software updates and upgrades
  
• Install and configure monitoring and database administration tools
  
• Create and maintain documentation for database administration procedures
  
• Maintain in-house database platform infrastructure
  
• Research technical issues and system maintenance methodologies
  
• Test new versions of system and database software
  
• Review internal workflow/dataflow processes and procedures for accuracy and opportunities for improvement.
  
• Participate in primary weekly on-call rotation for support
  
• Follow organization change management process for implementing changes
  
• Provide guidance and assistance to application developers

Qualifications
Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  
• At least 5 years of system administration experience with ERP technology products including Installations, upgrades, patching, troubleshooting and optimizations
  
• Experience with cloud technologies
  
• Experience developing system utility scripts
  
• Experience developing system maintenance-related project plans
  

Skills/Abilities/Competencies:

• Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to solve complex system problems independently
  
• Highly motivated and willing to take the initiative for improving processes to ensure platform stability
  
• Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with cross functional teams including staff at all levels of the organization including both technical and non-technical personnel
  
• Excellent reasoning and analytic skills in a time critical/mission critical problem-solving operation
  
• Requires minimal direction from leadership and possesses the ability and eagerness to learn quickly
