Job Description Summary

Description Summary: This position is responsible for leading team members to identify, manage, and execute the plants process improvement opportunities. Manages production staff to attain production and quality goals. Identifies problems or bottlenecks in production processes and resolves issues. Ensures production resources including materials, equipment and human resources are available as needed to maintain production schedules. Supports continuous improvement goals in safety, quality, cost and customer service. Responsible for managing and owning various functions of the business and creating an engaged and team oriented work force in order to improve business results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Individuals in this position must:

• Follow all plant safety policies and procedures. Be actively involved in safety, participate in safety programs, engaged in safety activities, perform risk assessments and demonstrate ownership as well as leadership in personal safety and the safety of other team members.
• Provide training and leadership to ensure that employees are performing assigned work properly;
• Coordinate scheduling of personnel via the Human Resources Office to provide adequate staffing for production requirements;
• Control line flows and blend rates as necessary and directed;
• Monitor assigned production charts and processing equipment and authorize adjustments as needed;
• Assist with the supervision of sanitation operations as necessary;
• Enforce rules, regulations and procedures;
• Monitor production to ensure that safety, quality and cost standards are maintained;
• Evaluate subordinate performance, communicate with employees and provide information for work performance improvement;
• Responsible for several shift reports and employee timecards.
• Follow good housekeeping practices and GMP's.
• Wear required PPE.
• Actively participate in AMD activities
• Perform any other duties as assigned by a Team Leader

Qualifications & Experience

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job. To successfully perform this job an individual must:

• One to two years production processing or supervisory experience desired
• Excellent PC skills, to include Windows, Word, and Excel
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills
• Previous experience in a food-processing environment is highly preferred
• MUST BE ABLE TO WORK WEEKENDS and/or SHIFT WORK with a strong work ethic and employment history

  • Sanitation qualification is required. If you are not qualified, you will be trained.
  • Employee must be Lock-out/Tag-out qualification is required. If you are not qualified, you will be trained.
  • Forklift qualification is required. If you are not qualified, you will be trained.
  • Read, understand, and obey all plant rules and practice safety as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Practice proper body mechanics and safe lifting techniques.
  • Be knowledgeable of the potential hazards and safety procedures associated with the task being performed.
  • Actively practice and abide by all Company work, safety, and personal hygiene rules and regulations as outlined in the employee handbook.
•Must be able to work independently and as a team player, be organized, and plan ahead.

Education

4 year degree in engineering, business administration, food science, agriculture, microbiology or related field preferred.

Language Skills

Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing. Ability to understand instructions and follow directions in English.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the functions of this job. The employee:

  • The noise level in the work environment can exceed 85 dB.
  • Will regularly work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Will frequently be exposed to humid conditions as well as moderate heat.
  • May occasionally work around fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, and vibration.
  • May work around forklift traffic.
